Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 18 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Coach Jackson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Carolus Rex!
The judges for this bout are Nard Betker, Wagner Zegers and Radbod Blank.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jackson misses with a takedown attempt - Rex sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Rex tries to clinch but fails miserably
and Jackson makes the exchange count by landing a cracking kick to the body. Rex really felt that one!
Rex wants to clinch.
Rex tries to clinch but Jackson moves away
and Jackson counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Jackson goes for a double leg but Rex avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Rex continues to drive forward.
The fight stays on the outside here - Rex looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Rex lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Jackson circles away quickly and effectively.
Jackson misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Coach Jackson. That's going to take a lot out of him.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Rex stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Jackson.
Rex tries to grapple but his opponent circles
and Jackson counters with a nice kick to the body.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Rex takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Rex closes the distance looking to clinch
letting Jackson counter with a right hand.
Rex misses with a combination
and Jackson counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Rex tries to clinch but Jackson moves out of range.
Jackson feinted with a counter takedown.

Rex moves into the clinch.
Rex lands an elbow just above Jackson 's eye.
Rex is looking to break free of the clinch but Jackson has double underhooks.
Jackson presses Rex against the cage and delivers a mid-strength body shot.
Rex throws an elbow but it misses.
Jackson doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Rex is working Jackson over against the cage.
Rex throws a nice elbow but it doesn't land.
Jackson dodges an elbow strike from Rex.
Rex told us before the fight that he's been working on his elbows. An under utilised technique these days - let's see if it can sway the outcome of the fight.
Rex has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Jackson blocks the elbow strike.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Jackson has Rex pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Jackson pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Rex tumbling to the mat - Jackson dives into Rex's guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Rex wants to get back to his feet but Jackson passes into half guard.
Jackson scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
Jackson prevents Rex from standing back up.
Jackson content to control rather than advance.

Jackson looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Rex pushes Jackson off looking to stand but Jackson dives back in and keeps control.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Jackson slips a nice elbow through Rex's hands, connecting with Rex's forehead.


Rex is rocked!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Jackson controlling the action here.
Rex is still in real trouble! Can Jackson finish him?
Jackson has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Jackson seems like he's working for an arm triangle here. He's freed his trapped foot and he's rotating nicely. Rex is in big trouble! He's tapping out! This one is aaaaaaaaaaaall over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:53 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Arm Triangle). Coach Jackson!
