Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Ben James!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Dave Batista!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Frank Antenori and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Batista doesn't succeed with the takedown
and James counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

James gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Batista jumps guard but James turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Batista is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
James makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.
A nice right hand lands inside from James.
A short left from James.
Batista tries for a takedown. No joy.
Ben James has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Dave Batista.
James scores with a nice hook to the head.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
James makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.
James lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.
James working on landing some head shots here - that one got through nicely.
James is pushing Batista up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.
James lands with a right to the head.

Stalling in the clinch from James.
Batista goes for a takedown attempt but James pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Dave Batista seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Batista gets a takedown into half guard.
Batista trying to mount his opponent but James defends it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Batista passes the guard and advances to mount!
Batista wants to take his opponent's back but he's not managed it.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
James is trying to get back to his feet but can't.
Batista is looking to work his way around to James's back. He needs to be careful though, as he's in danger of losing this dominant position.
James is wriggling around here but as he tries to escape, Batista has taken his back.
James is trying to stand back up.

Batista has his arm under James's chin here. Game over son! Batista squeezes tightly and James is forced to tap out!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:50 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Dave Batista!
In his post fight interview, Dave Batista started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
