Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Carson Mathews!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, No Joy!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Alan Glass and Cecil Peabody.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mathews connects with a body shot.
Mathews misses with a head kick.
Joy fails with a takedown attempt.
Joy is trying hard to land a takedown here. Mathews sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Carson Mathews has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of No Joy.
Joy goes for a takedown attempt but Mathews pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Mathews closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Joy quickly recovers to half guard.

Mathews knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Joy on the ground.

Mathews is looking for a kimura but Joy is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Mathews to get the leverage.
Mathews could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Joy is looking to control Mathews's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Joy avoid being mounted?
Mathews is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Mathews looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Joy with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Mathews thows a huge punch but Joy dodges it nicely.

Joy is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Mathews's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Mathews's back!

Mathews is very frustrated here, being controlled quite effectively by Joy.
The crowd hopeful of a finish here - Joy's supporters are on their feet, screaming for him to go for the rear naked choke.
Joy punches the canvas rather than the man.
Joy has the hooks in. Mathews is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.

Joy is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Mathews pulls him back up using the underhooks.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Joy is looking to work some ground and pound but Mathews has wrist control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mathews feints and as Joy raises his hands in defense, Mathews changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Mathews trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Mathews might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Mathews drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Joy dives on top into guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Joy is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.
Carson Mathews overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Joy is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Joy is wriggling around trying to escape.
Joy wants to control but Mathews is having none of it.
Joy gets back to half guard.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Mathews lands a nice short elbow.
Joy slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Mathews is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Joy can do to turn this around?

Joy lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Mathews wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

Mathews throws a big elbow that misses.

Mathews got a little sloppy there for a moment and Joy has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Mathews has managed to get both his arms back between Joy's legs - danger averted.

Joy pushes Mathews off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.
No Joy seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Joy scores with a head kick. Mathews tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time.

Joy drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Joy is breathing heavily.
Mathews preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.

Joy thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Mathews wants to stand and escape but Joy is having none of it.

Mathews seems keen to control Joy's posture.
Mathews lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Joy avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but No Joy will probably get the nod - 10:9.
The cut man is working on Carson Mathews's cut.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! And we move into the final round!



Mathews fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Joy, pushing him back against the cage.
Joy has Mathews pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Mathews manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

Mathews has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Joy uses from the top position.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Mathews is not content to let Joy control the position.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Joy shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Mathews but Mathews pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Joy has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
Joy has momentary wrist control but Mathews slips an elbow through the middle.

Mathews throws a strike but Joy rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Mathews wants to get back to his feet but Joy is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Joy is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.

Joy is standing up over Mathews. Mathews looks to escape but Joy dives into side control.
Mathews is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Joy asserts his dominance and retains side control.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Joy gets to mount! Mathews was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Carson Mathews.
I think Mathews has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
