The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smith misses with a takedown attempt
and Santos counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Smith tries to bum rush Santos with a series of wild strikes but Santos uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Smith should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Smith shoots in but no luck this time.
Santos appears to be looking for a counter punch to the body.
Smith tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Santos swivels and escapes.
Santos was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
Horacio Santos has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of David Smith.
Smith's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Santos connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Smith scrambles back to his feet.
