Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 20 - 37 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, German Valdez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 13 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Gaudencio Roman!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Frank Antenori and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Valdez shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Roman defends it nicely.
Valdez shoots in but no luck this time.
Roman fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Roman looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Roman has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Valdez is landing a low percentage of strikes.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Valdez fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Roman avoids it really well and circles away.

Roman has managed to clinch.
Valdez is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.

Roman wants the takedown. Valdez is fighting it off but Roman persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Valdez's guard against the cage.

Valdez had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Roman defends it easily.

Valdez has his foot on Roman's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Roman works his way back into a safe position though.

Roman looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Valdez with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Roman lands a left hand that snaps the head of Valdez backwards.
Valdez jumps guard but Roman stands there with Valdez around his waist. Valdez gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Valdez closes the distance and clinches up with Roman, looking for a takedown. Valdez pushes Roman against the cage but Roman circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Roman fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Valdez.

A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

Gaudencio Roman comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Roman has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
