Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Coryn GreenLeaf (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mario Sobral (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mario Sobral has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Coryn GreenLeaf!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Mario Sobral!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Santiago Holmes and David Hoff.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sobral stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Sobral wants it to stay on the feet.
Sobral tries to counter with a clinch but GreenLeaf shakes him off and moves away.
GreenLeaf fails in his attempt to clinch.
Sobral wants to counter with a clinch but GreenLeaf pushes him away.
GreenLeaf shoots and misses
and Sobral counters with a lovely shot to the body.

GreenLeaf throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Sobral tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. GreenLeaf is in Sobral's guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
GreenLeaf is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
GreenLeaf trying to control but Sobral is working from the bottom.

GreenLeaf gets to his feet - Sobral follows without any prompting.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

GreenLeaf fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Sobral to the ground. GreenLeaf is now in Sobral's guard.
GreenLeaf postures up in Sobral's guard and throws a big left but Sobral blocks it.

Sobral gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows GreenLeaf to score an easy takedown into full guard.

GreenLeaf wants to pass the guard but Sobral is keeping the position.
GreenLeaf not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

GreenLeaf is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
GreenLeaf seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Sobral really doesn't want to stay on the ground with GreenLeaf. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

GreenLeaf passes Sobral's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
GreenLeaf takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
GreenLeaf is pressing down on Sobral's thigh, looking to free his foot. Sobral is holding on for now.

GreenLeaf is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Sobral is just riding it out for now. GreenLeaf eventually gives up the hold.
GreenLeaf wants to lay and pray for a moment but Sobral keeps working.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
GreenLeaf prevents Sobral from standing back up.

Sobral regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from GreenLeaf.
GreenLeaf trying to control the position from guard on top but Sobral is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
GreenLeaf content to stall in guard here.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Coryn GreenLeaf dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Sobral clobbers GreenLeaf with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.

GreenLeaf closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - GreenLeaf lands in his opponent's guard.

GreenLeaf decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Sobral, up you get!

Mario Sobral is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
GreenLeaf slips under a jab from Sobral.
GreenLeaf shoots in but no luck this time.

That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Coryn GreenLeaf. That's going to take a lot out of him.
GreenLeaf darts in looking for a takedown but Sobral gets double underhooks and turns GreenLeaf into the cage.
Sobral steps in looking to clinch after the strikes miss from GreenLeaf.
A looping hook to the body misses from Sobral. GreenLeaf does a little dance to reset his feet.
GreenLeaf dives in and grabs Sobral's left leg, looking for a takedown. Sobral pushes down on GreenLeaf's head and hops out.
We've been informed that Sobral has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.

GreenLeaf fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
GreenLeaf rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Sobral moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Sobral looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.
GreenLeaf fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Sobral wants to counter with a clinch but GreenLeaf pushes him away.
GreenLeaf shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Sobral counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
GreenLeaf shoots for a double leg takedown but Sobral sprawls well. He's pushed GreenLeaf's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

GreenLeaf tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no GreenLeaf has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

GreenLeaf has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Sobral is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. GreenLeaf yanks on the arm and Sobral is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by GreenLeaf.
