Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ryosuke Sato (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Melvin Mercy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ryosuke Sato!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Melvin Mercy!
The judges for this bout are Jorge Garcia, Steve Montenegro and Anthony Taglia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mercy scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Sato dips to his left and cracks Mercy with an uppercut!
Mercy scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.
Sato takes a swing at Mercy's ribcage but misses.
Sato looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.

Sato closes the distance and clinches.
Mercy has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Sato tries to throw a body punch but Mercy avoids it by throwing Sato back against the cage.
Sato tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
Sato lands a body shot.
Sato lands a shot to the body.
Sato misses with a hook from the clinch.
Sato lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.
Sato can't find room to land a body shot as Mercy controls the action.

Mercy's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Sato looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

Sato has managed to clinch.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Sato fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Mercy blocking some punches.
Sato scores with a hook to the body.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Mercy wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Sato scores with a hook to the body.
Sato lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Mercy or not.
Mercy is trying to push Sato away but Sato has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
Sato keeps control of Mercy as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Sato tries to work over Mercy's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
Sato lands with a right to the head.
Sato misses with a hook to the ribs.
Mercy looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Sato tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
Sato lands a body punch - he's looking to wear down Mercy.
Mercy looks winded!
Sato lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Mercy backwards.
Mercy is trying to break the clinch but Sato is controlling him.
Sato tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
Sato lands a shoulder strike.
Mercy working hard to break the clinch.
Sato lands a nice looking hook to the body, against the cage.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Sato lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards.
Sato lands with a left to the head.
Sato lands on the inside with an uppercut.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Sato scores with a shot to the side of Mercy's head.

Sato lands a right hand that snaps the head of Mercy backwards.
Sato lands with a short punch from the clinch.
Sato lands with a left to the head.
Sato creates some distance for himself and unleashes a massive uppercut that sends Mercy's eyes rolling into the back of his head! Mercy drops to his knees and Sato pours it on with more strikes until the referee steps in to end the bout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:37 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Ryosuke Sato!
A less than humble Ryosuke Sato misjudged his post fight interview somewhat and came across a little too arrogant whilst trying to hype up his own abilities.
