Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 39 - 24 - 2, fighting out of Sydney, Jacob Obworth!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 20 - 24 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, January Kwiecinski!
The judges for this bout are Donatello Bradman, Topper Green and Francis DeMontford.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Obworth lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
Jacob Obworth seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Obworth throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Kwiecinski scores with a decent looking hook.
Obworth lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
Kwiecinski throws a front kick aimed at Obworth's knee but Obworth avoids it well.
Kwiecinski has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Obworth.
Kwiecinski moves out of range of the strikes.
Kwiecinski only half commits to the counter leg kick.
Obworth will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Kwiecinski thows a body kick. Obworth tries to catch it but that hurt him.

Obworth comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Kwiecinski walks into a straight right hand from Obworth.
Obworth avoids the body shot from Kwiecinski.
A low kick from Kwiecinski misses
and Obworth connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Obworth scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.
Obworth fails with a takedown attempt.
As Obworth backs off Kwiecinski throws a huge counter combo but Obworth manages to avoid it all.

and Kwiecinski counters with a two punch combo.
Kwiecinski keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Kwiecinski looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.
A telegraphed right hand from Kwiecinski misses the target.
Kwiecinski moves into range and connects with a jab.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Kwiecinski throws the kick towards the body but Obworth avoids it.
As Kwiecinski looks to move away, Obworth throws a big counter combo but Kwiecinski just gets out of the way.
Kwiecinski throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena.
Obworth ducks right into an uppercut from Kwiecinski.
Kwiecinski connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Obworth on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Kwiecinski. Kwiecinski obviously looking to wear him down.
We've been hearing reports that Obworth has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.

Obworth tries to sprawl but Kwiecinski drives through with a takedown into half guard.

Kwiecinski engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.

Obworth had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Kwiecinski defends it easily.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Kwiecinski postures up in Obworth's guard and throws a big left but Obworth blocks it.

Obworth is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Obworth has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Kwiecinski can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Kwiecinski is posturing up here but Obworth has hold of an arm and he's gone for an armbar! Kwiecinski tries to roll out but it's too tight and Kwiecinski has to tap! Slick submission there by Obworth!

Jacob Obworth was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
