PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Elbert Horne (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nishiyama Satoru (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Elbert Horne has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Elbert Horne!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Nishiyama Satoru!
The judges for this bout are Yuuki Gou, Yukihiro Shimada and Tatsuya Matsuyama.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Satoru gets a takedown into half guard.
Horne wants to control but Satoru is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Satoru tries to pass the half guard into mount. Horne knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

Satoru is working for a kimura from half guard. He's really concentrating on the hold and it's allowed Horne to slip a leg under and get back to full guard.
Horne could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Satoru stands up from Horne's guard - Satoru perhaps looking for a knockout.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Satoru gets the takedown into side control.

Horne throws his opponent off and manages to get back to his feet! Nicely done!

That's one minute gone in the round.

Satoru is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Horne's half guard.

Satoru decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.

Satoru rushes Horne and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Horne pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Horne fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Satoru moves into range and clinches up with Horne.

Satoru manages to pull guard.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Satoru can do anything to dispel that myth.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Satoru pulls Horne in close to prevent any damage.
Horne controlling from the top position.
Horne preventing the sweep.
Satoru pulls Horne in to control the position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Satoru keeping moving, preventing Horne from controlling successfully.
Horne working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Horne trying to control the position from guard on top but Satoru is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Satoru manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Horne manages to get himself to full guard.

Satoru is looking to work some ground and pound but Horne has wrist control.
Horne can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Satoru controls the pace.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
It looks like Satoru might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Satoru stands and steps away. Horne gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Satoru.
Horne tries to get back to his feet but has found himself mounted instead. Damn, that's gotta suck.
Horne blocking the ground and pound.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Horne holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Satoru tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Nishiyama Satoru dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Elbert Horne's cut.
That's time! Back to the action!


Satoru throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Horne stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Horne is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Horne fails with the takedown.
Satoru throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Horne gets caught napping as Satoru dives in and scores a takedown. Horne manages to retain guard.
Satoru seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Horne working for a triangle but Satoru defends it easily.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Satoru not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Let's hope that Satoru has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Satoru postures up in Horne's guard and throws a big left but Horne blocks it.
Satoru has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Satoru prevents Horne from getting back to his feet.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Satoru drops back, looking for a kneebar! Horne looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Horne looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Horne!

Satoru sneaks back into half guard.
Satoru is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Satoru missing with punches from the bottom.
Satoru wants to control but Horne is keeping busy.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Satoru has a hand on Horne's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Horne takes advantage of the position though and mounts him!
Satoru is looking to get back to his feet - it's going to be hard from this position.
Nishiyama Satoru has got the better of the ground game so far.
Horne trying to control but he's not successful this time.

Horne looking for a guillotine from mount but Satoru is having none of it.
Satoru has given up his back here.
Horne has the hooks in. Satoru is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.

Satoru looking very determined here, making life difficult for Horne.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Horne doesn't have the hooks in and Satoru manages to turn into his guard.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Nishiyama Satoru showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!



Satoru closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Horne bucks up and tries to throw Satoru off but instead Satoru has got his back!

Satoru is persistently looking for the submission but Horne is defending it well.

Satoru has good solid back control here.
Horne covering up well under a barage of strikes.
Satoru really has the hooks in deep now - there seems like no escape for Horne.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Horne tries to roll but Satoru sticks to his back.
Horne is trying to stand back up.

Satoru looking for the choke but no joy.
Satoru lands with a nice looking elbow that stuns Horne.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Satoru has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Horne has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!
Satoru controls the position.
Horne manages to reverse the position and now he's in Satoru's guard. Nice work there by Horne.
Horne wants to control from the top but Satoru keeps moving.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Horne sitting in guard here, content to control.
Satoru looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Horne puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
Satoru keeps control of the position for the meantime.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Satoru is looking to control Horne's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Satoru avoid being mounted?

And that's the end of the fight!
Nishiyama Satoru comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Satoru has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
