Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Nate Diaz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Masakazu Aoki (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Aoki has chosen Sandstorm by Darude as his entrance music. Masakazu Aoki has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Nate Diaz's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 16 - 0, fighting out of London, Nate Diaz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 46 - 35 - 3, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Masakazu Aoki!
The judges for this bout are Matheus Silva, Leandro Rodrigues and Paulo Santos.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Aoki throws an off balance right hand
and Diaz cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.


It looks like Masakazu Aoki has been cut.
A kick lands to the mid section there for Diaz.
Aoki has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Diaz uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Aoki.
Aoki misses with an uppercut. Diaz saw that one coming.
Diaz throws a shot from downtown. Aoki moves away and avoids it.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Diaz accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Aoki manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Diaz manages to get himself to full guard.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Diaz jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Aoki walks away with a smile on his face. Diaz gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Aoki wants to control from the top but Diaz keeps moving.
Diaz utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Aoki stays in close to Diaz's body and controls the position.

Diaz can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Aoki controls the pace.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

and Aoki counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Aoki throws the left hand but Diaz avoids the punch easily.
Aoki shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Diaz but Diaz pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Nate Diaz has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Masakazu Aoki.

Aoki changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Diaz tries to avoid it but Aoki manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Diaz to the ground. Diaz escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Nice straight punches there by Aoki. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Aoki.
Diaz is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.

Aoki throws a right hand that Diaz ducks under and follows up with a left that Diaz also avoids with ease.

Aoki will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
As Aoki looks to move away, Diaz throws a big counter combo but Aoki just gets out of the way.

This has been an exciting period of action!
Aoki lands with an overhand left.
Diaz lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Diaz stuffs the takedown.
Diaz feinted with a counter takedown.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Masakazu Aoki.
I think Aoki has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
