Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Clifford Clay (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joshua Heras (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Joshua Heras is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Clifford Clay!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Joshua Heras!
The judges for this bout are , Frank Antenori and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Heras tries to clinch there but Clay circles away.
Heras tries to close the distance and clinch but Clay swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Heras, right into the meat.
Clay lands a nice leg kick that just misses Heras's sensitive parts.
Clay tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Heras fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Clay manages to avoid it.

Heras has managed to clinch.

Clay has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Heras uses from the top position.
Clay is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Clay throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Heras decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Clay, up you get!
Clay shoots in looking for a takedown. Heras tries to sprawl out of it but Clay keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Heras manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Heras has Clay up against the cage in a clinch.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Heras manages to break the clinch.
Clay looks for a takedown but Heras sprawls well.

Heras moves into range and clinches up with Clay.
Clay jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Heras walks away with a smile on his face. Clay gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Clifford Clay. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Heras tries a head kick but it misses.

Heras forces Clay back against the cage and clinches.
Clay blocking some punches.

Heras breaks from the clinch.
Heras throws a sloppy head kick and Clay moves out of range easily.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Heras is looking to clinch.
Heras is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Clay.

Clay fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Heras to the ground. Clay is now in Heras's guard.

Heras wriggles free and stands up.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Heras closes the distance and pushes Clay back into the cage.
Clay is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Heras to keep the fight standing.

Heras manages to break the clinch.
Heras is looking to clinch.

Clay tries to keep at a distance but Heras has taken the fight into the clinch.

Clay pulls guard successfully.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Heras gets to his feet. Clay looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Clay gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.

Clay jumps guard.
Heras preventing the sweep.
Clay will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Heras tries to stand but Clay is controlling from the bottom.
Clay trying to keep a closed guard but Heras is proving a slippery customer.
Heras tries to stand but Clay is controlling from the bottom.

Heras stands up from Clay's guard - Heras perhaps looking for a knockout.

Heras has closed the distance and engaged Clay in a clinch.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Clay tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Heras smiles and moves away.
Clay takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.

Clay gets tackled into the cage by Heras. Heras maintains the clinch.

Heras escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
A shot to the body from Clay misses
letting Heras counter with a right hand.


Clay is rocked!

Heras clinches.
Oh Clay is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Clinched against the cage, Heras lands a big elbow that drops Clay! The ref dives in to save him from more shots - Clay is complaining that he's OK but he was done.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:47 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Joshua Heras!
