The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Trevor Gratis and Ian Loll.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
GarShnitz throws a head kick but Mcfarland moves out of range.
Mcfarland appears to be looking for a big counter.
GarShnitz drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Mcfarland is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.
Mcfarland effectively controlling the action here.
GarShnitz is struggling to control the position.
GarShnitz decides to pull guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
GarShnitz wants to improve his position but instead Mcfarland has moved into half guard.
Mcfarland looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks GarShnitz with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Mcfarland could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Mcfarland is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! GarShnitz is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!
