Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Kantaro Hoshino (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ricky Rocker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rocker has chosen Ki:Theory - Stand By Me as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 20 - 6 - 1, fighting out of St Petersburg, Kantaro Hoshino!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 30 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Ricky Rocker!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rocker stalks Hoshino and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Hoshino's face. Hoshino staggers backwards, shaken.
Rocker rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Hoshino counters with a nice uppercut.
Hoshino slips a straight right by Rocker.
Rocker's jab looks to have found its range, popping Hoshino under the eye.
Ricky Rocker seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Hoshino misses with a looping right.
Rocker comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
The fighters circle momentarily. Rocker darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Rocker swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Hoshino cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Hoshino throws out a loose jab but Rocker uses good head movement to avoid it.
Hoshino looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Rocker throws a head kick that misses
and Hoshino counters with a stiff right hand.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Rocker closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Hoshino did well to prevent Rocker getting side control.

Hoshino pushes Rocker off and gets back to his feet.
Rocker throws a combination that misses
and Hoshino connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Rocker looks to land a combination but Hoshino avoids it well.
Rocker fails with a takedown attempt.

Hoshino tests Rocker's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Rocker throws a shot from downtown. Hoshino moves away and avoids it.
Hoshino is looking to counter punch.
Hoshino ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Rocker throws a low kick but Hoshino moves out of range easily.
Rocker misses with a kick to the body.
Kantaro Hoshino is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Hoshino stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Rocker.
Rocker throws out a loose jab but Hoshino uses good head movement to avoid it.
Rocker ducks under a wild hook from Hoshino.

A shot to the body from Hoshino misses
and Rocker connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Rocker cracks the inside of Hoshino's front leg.

Some wild striking there from Rocker.
Hoshino takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Rocker bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Rocker misses with an uppercut.
Rocker throws a right and a left that Hoshino avoids nicely.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Rocker throws a hook but Hoshino avoids it easily.
It looked like Hoshino wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
Donk. Rocker catches Hoshino right on the button with a cross.
Rocker looks to throw the jab but Hoshino is out of range.
It looked like Hoshino was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Rocker.
Rocker misses with a body kick.
Rocker stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Rocker throws a head kick that misses.

Rocker chopping away at his opponent's legs.
Rocker throws a hook to the side of Hoshino's head but Hoshino sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Hoshino swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Rocker is defended easily by Hoshino.
Rocker slips under a jab from Hoshino.
Rocker lands with a right hand.
Rocker bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Rocker moves forwards but Hoshino connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Rocker displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Hoshino throws out the jab.
Rocker throws a hook but Hoshino avoids it easily.
Rocker throws a leg kick that is checked
and Hoshino counters with a stiff right hand.

Rocker lands a jab.
Hoshino thuds his right hand into Rocker's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Hoshino cracks Rocker with a big right hand that sends him to the floor! Rocker looks wobbly but he's sprung back up to his feet straight away… can Hoshino finish him?


Rocker is rocked!

Rocker dives in and scores a takedown into Hoshino's guard.

Hoshino pushes Rocker off and gets back to his feet.
Hoshino drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Rocker connects with a right hand. Hoshino shakes it off.
Hoshino tries to check a leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Hoshino is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all.
A telegraphed right hand from Hoshino misses the target.
Rocker tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Ricky Rocker will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Rocker tries to land a front kick but Hoshino steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Rocker has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.
Hoshino misses with a body shot.
Hoshino on the wrong end of a kick to the body.
Rocker misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Rocker fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Hoshino.
Rocker throws a hook but Hoshino blocks it.
Hoshino is looking to counter with a shot to the body.
Rocker looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

and Hoshino counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

Rocker shoots for a double leg takedown but Hoshino sprawls well. He's pushed Rocker's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Kantaro Hoshino has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ricky Rocker.

Hoshino takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Hoshino has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Rocker finds it's way round the side to connect with Hoshino's head.
Rocker throws a body kick, spinning off balance
and Hoshino counters with a nice uppercut.
Hoshino throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Rocker is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.
Hoshino fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Rocker manages to avoid it.
And Rocker tries to counter it with a takedown but Hoshino pushes his down on his head and steps out.
Rocker throws the left hand but Hoshino avoids the punch easily.
Hoshino throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Hoshino lands a jab to Rocker's midsection.
Rocker bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Hoshino's head backwards.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ricky Rocker showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Rocker throws a looping overhand right but Hoshino ducks down to avoid it.

and Hoshino counters with a crisp right hand that drops Rocker! Hoshino lets Rocker back up to his feet, looking for a finish!
Rocker is still on wobbly legs! Can Hoshino finish him?
Rocker takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

and Hoshino counters with a beautiful right hand that knocks Rocker out cold! What a finish! Hoshino is going crazy, running around the mat, summersaulting off the corner posts and screaming into the cameras. Something tells me he's pretty happy!

Kantaro Hoshino gave a mention to On Tap (160Q) in his post fight interview. That will please them (and hopefully generate some sales).
