Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 46 - 16 - 1, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Eiji Kawashima!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 25 - 13 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Giovani Castro!
The judges for this bout are , Jack Bonds and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Castro scores with a spinning back kick!
Kawashima drops his hands momentarily and Castro takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
We've been informed that Castro has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result.
Kawashima fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Castro manages to avoid it.
Nice defenses there by Castro.
Kawashima chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Castro can pounce on him.
Castro throws out a powerful jab.
Kawashima connects with an inside leg kick.
Castro missing with a left hand there. Kawashima was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Kawashima fires out a quick counter leg kick but Castro just manages to avoid it.
Castro throws a leg kick which misses Kawashima's front leg but catches the back leg as Kawashima tries to avoid it.
Kawashima scores with a hook.
Castro has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Castro sends Kawashima crashing to the mat with a devastating uppercut! Castro is motioning to the referee to let Kawashima up. He wants to try and finish this one on the feet!


Kawashima is rocked!


It looks like Eiji Kawashima has been cut.
Kawashima finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
Oh Kawashima is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Castro's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Kawashima connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Castro scrambles back to his feet.
A big right from Castro misses.

Castro feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Kawashima sprawling to the canvas! Kawashima rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Castro finish him?!
Castro avoids a kick to the body.
Castro is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own.
Eiji Kawashima seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Castro instigates a clinch.
Castro lands an uppercut in the clinch that drops Kawashima to his knees! Castro keeps firing more shots against his stricken opponent and the referee jumps in to save him!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Giovani Castro!
An out of breath Giovani Castro thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
