Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Roid Whitaker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Frankie Edgar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). This should be fireworks!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Roid Whitaker!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Frankie Edgar!
The judges for this bout are Alexandre Firmino, Luis Engracia and Daniel Cesar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Edgar misses with a body shot.
Edgar scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
Roid Whitaker seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Edgar with a nice cross.
A jab from Edgar does it's job there.
Edgar lands with a good body shot.
Edgar closes the distance and lands a one-two.
Edgar moves into range and connects with a jab.
Whitaker shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Edgar as he avoids it easily.

Whitaker decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Edgar keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Edgar is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Edgar is refusing to be controlled, as Whitaker sits in half guard.
Whitaker thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Edgar's head.

Edgar wants to get back to his feet.
Edgar preventing any damage for now, controlling his opponent's head.
Whitaker is trying to control the action in half guard but Edgar is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Whitaker prevents Edgar from standing back up.
Whitaker wants to take a breather but Edgar is having none of it.
Whitaker is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Edgar is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

Whitaker stands up out of the half guard.
Edgar dips down and scores with a jab to the body.

and Edgar counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

Edgar throws a left and a right that both miss

and Whitaker counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Whitaker.
Edgar is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Whitaker slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Whitaker tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Whitaker has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Edgar felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.

Whitaker working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

Edgar tries to buck Whitaker off but Whitaker is having none of it.

Whitaker wants to lay and pray for a moment but Edgar keeps working.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Edgar tries to control but Whitaker manages to take his back.

Edgar tries to break free.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Whitaker throwing wild punches that miss their target.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Roid Whitaker will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Whitaker misses with a takedown attempt
and Edgar cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Edgar scores with a jab to the jaw.
Whitaker dives in for a single leg takedown but Edgar sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Edgar swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
Whitaker takes a shot right to the bread basket.
Edgar lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Roid Whitaker is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Edgar looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Edgar cracks Whitaker with a right hand to the side of the head.
Frankie Edgar seems to be getting the better of the standup.

Edgar gets tackled into the cage by Whitaker. Whitaker maintains the clinch.

Edgar escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Edgar stuffs the takedown attempt from Whitaker. Whitaker gets slowly back to his feet.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Edgar! But no joy.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Roid Whitaker. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Whitaker gets cracked there but stands up to it.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Edgar misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Whitaker.
Edgar thuds a left hand into Whitaker's body.

Whitaker darts in trying to clinch
and Edgar counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Edgar throws a head kick but Whitaker moves out of range.
Whitaker throws a solid leg kick but Edgar takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Whitaker.
Edgar misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Whitaker throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Edgar's waist but Edgar gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Whitaker off to one side.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Edgar! But no joy.
Good exchange - Edgar coming out on top.
Edgar misses with a wild combination.
Whitaker fails to land the takedown.
Whitaker misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A head kick from Edgar lands but Whitaker takes it in his stride.
Edgar lands a lovely overhand right.
Edgar goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Edgar lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.
Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Edgar!


Whitaker is rocked!
Edgar tests Whitaker's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Oh Whitaker is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Edgar throws a perfectly timed hook that sends Whitaker crashing down! Whitaker tries to stagger back to his feet but Edgar just hammers him until the ref stops the fight! A confused Whitaker asks the ref what just happened. Poor fella.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:47 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Frankie Edgar!
Roid Whitaker spoke after the fight, saying 'The ref is blind. The judges and bias. And I have never used sports enhancing drugs... knowingly.'.
