Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Umberto Sotto Jr (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Donnie Jackson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 21 - 19 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Umberto Sotto Jr!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 32 - 24 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Donnie Jackson!
The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Yves DeLean and William Peck.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jackson throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
A jab lands there for Sotto Jr.
Sotto Jr takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Jackson swings for the body but Sotto Jr moves out of range.
Sotto Jr swings and misses with a shot to the body
and Jackson counters with a straight right hand.
Sotto Jr avoids the head kick by Jackson.
It looked like Sotto Jr was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Jackson.
Jackson throws a body shot but no joy.
Jackson misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Jackson throws a head kick but Sotto Jr moves out of range.

Jackson has done a lot of speed work in the buildup to this fight.

Sotto Jr is looking to counter with a shot to the body.
Jackson tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Sotto Jr swivels and escapes.
Jackson shoots for a double leg takedown but Sotto Jr sprawls well. He's pushed Jackson's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Sotto Jr takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.

Sotto Jr has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.

Sotto Jr throws a looping overhand right but Jackson ducks down to avoid it.

Ouch! a nice leg kick from Sotto Jr, right into the meat.

Jackson has hold of one of Sotto Jr's legs. Sotto Jr is fighting the takedown attempt but Jackson gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.

Jackson avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Sotto Jr is looking for a triangle but Jackson pushes his legs off easily.
Sotto Jr manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Jackson manages to get himself to full guard.

Sotto Jr slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Umberto Sotto Jr will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Jackson lands with a straight right. Sotto Jr didn't see that one coming.

and Jackson counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Jackson wants to get up but he can't break Sotto Jr's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Sotto Jr had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Jackson defends it easily.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Sotto Jr is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Jackson is trying to maintain the position but Sotto Jr is very close to passing his half guard.
Jackson wants to improve his position but Sotto Jr is controlling well.
Jackson is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Sotto Jr's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Sotto Jr's back!

Sotto Jr has given up his back - I don’t know if this is a deliberate ploy to try and escape or if he is just struggling down there.

Jackson has the hooks in. Sotto Jr is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.

I really don't envy Sotto Jr right now.

Donnie Jackson showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Jackson will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

As Jackson backs away, Sotto Jr returns fire with a leg kick that just misses.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Umberto Sotto Jr.
I think Sotto Jr has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
