Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Alec Norris (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gustavo Diaz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gustavo Diaz has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Alec Norris's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Alec Norris!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Gustavo Diaz!
The judges for this bout are Steve Erwin, Winston Howard and Skip Squint.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Diaz has managed to clinch.
Norris could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Norris is trying to trip Diaz. He has hold of a leg but Diaz is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Norris persists though and gets the takedown into guard.
Diaz wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
Diaz is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Norris throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Diaz works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Diaz controls Norris momentarily but Norris frees himself.

Norris stands up over Diaz, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Diaz is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

Diaz tries to close the distance and clinch up but Norris swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Diaz forces Norris back against the cage and clinches.
Norris tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Diaz just stands there and leans against the cage.

Norris breaks from the clinch.
The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky.
Norris on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Diaz tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Norris manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Diaz throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Norris on the side of the head.

Diaz takes the fight into the clinch.
Diaz blocks an elbow strike.

Diaz decides to pull guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Norris gets to his feet. Diaz looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Norris clinches up against the cage.

Norris's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Gustavo Diaz seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Norris avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Norris has Diaz pushed against the cage.
Norris is pushing Diaz up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.
The crowd are getting pretty annoyed with Norris for his constant stalling in the clinch and are voicing their displeasure.
Diaz can't break the clinch.

Diaz breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Norris closes the distance and clinches.
Diaz wants to break the clinch but can't.
Norris tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
Diaz can't break the clinch.

Diaz stuns Norris with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Diaz digs a good hook to Norris's body.

Diaz scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Norris might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Diaz decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Diaz is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range.

Diaz changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Norris looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Norris explodes and escapes back to his feet! Nice escape there!
Alec Norris is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Oh Norris is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!

Diaz gets to his feet - Norris follows without any prompting.

Diaz lands a huge takedown. Norris is out but the ref is slow to react and Diaz lands 3 more undefended punches before the fight is stopped. Brutal finish. Norris lies on the canvas for a good minute before the doctors bring him round. Good to see he's OK.
