PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Chris Bastad (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Adam Carolla (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Carolla has chosen Gotta Get It On from Taboo 2 as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Alexandre Firmino, Luis Engracia and Seu Braga.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Carolla lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Carolla scores with a one two! Bastad had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.

Carolla gets a takedown into half guard.

Carolla stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.
Carolla lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Carolla takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Carolla connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
Bastad closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
Bastad goes for a double leg but Carolla avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Carolla continues to drive forward.
The fighters circle momentarily. Carolla darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Carolla dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Carolla stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Carolla wants it to stay on the feet.
Bastad sets himself, and Carolla steps forward looking for the clinch! Bastad avoids it this time.

Bastad drops his hands momentarily and Carolla takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.

Carolla shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

Carolla got a little sloppy there for a moment and Bastad has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Carolla has managed to get both his arms back between Bastad's legs - danger averted.

Carolla is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

Carolla takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Bastad fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Carolla avoids it really well and circles away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Chris Bastad. That's going to take a lot out of him.

and Carolla counters with a left and a right that stings Bastad.
Carolla closes the distance and lands a one-two.

It looks like Chris Bastad has been cut.
Carolla lands a jab-cross combination.
Carolla is working the combinations to good effect here.
Carolla lands a really nice looking cross but Bastad seems unphased.
Bastad is breathing heavily.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Bastad misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Carolla feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Bastads jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
Bastad shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Carolla as he avoids it easily.
Carolla is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.
Carolla works the jab nicely.
Carolla pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Bastad back to the cage. Carolla follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.
Bastad takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Carolla lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Bastad at a distance.
Bastad throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Carolla's waist but Carolla gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Bastad off to one side.
Carolla throws a nice inside leg kick.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

A decent looking cross lands there for Carolla.
Carolla throws a one two combo.
Bastad takes a jab right on the kisser.
Carolla has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.
Carolla scores with a shot to the body.
Bastad shoots in for a takedown but Carolla shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Carolla connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
Carolla lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.

Bastad is rocked!
Carolla lands a big right hand and follows it up with an uppercut. Oh and another big punch and a knee - Bastad can't take much more of this! Another big shot to the jaw from Carolla and Bastad drops to the floor. Beaten and bloodied - he had enough there. A vicious beatdown by Carolla.
