The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Milat escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Rivers gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Milat wants to improve his position but Rivers is controlling well.
Milat is doing well to control the position and prevent Rivers from advancing to side control.

Milat has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Rivers is working away from the top position though.
Rivers stops Milat from getting back to his feet.

Milat has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Rivers is on him like a limpet, forcing Milat back against the cage.

I was talking to Rivers's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.

and Rivers counters with a left to the body.

Milat tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Rivers manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Rivers fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Milat.

Rivers connects with a good right hand that stumbles Milat. Milat circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Rivers lands a really nice looking cross but Milat seems unphased.

It looks like Ivan Milat has been cut.
Rivers shoots in looking for a takedown. Milat tries to sprawl out of it but Rivers keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Milat manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Milat stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Milat seems to have recovered his senses.

I really wanted the win tonight.'.
