Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Paul Edkins (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alex Metaalic (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Paul Edkins!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Alex Metaalic!
The judges for this bout are Nard Betker, Paul Aken and Wagner Zegers.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Metaalic feints and as Edkins raises his hands in defense, Metaalic changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Metaalic sitting in guard here, content to control.

Edkins escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Metaalic gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Metaalic passes Edkins's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Metaalic is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
Metaalic really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Edkins. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Edkins is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Metaalic pulls his head out easily.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Edkins wants to sweep but Metaalic has passed to side control!
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Metaalic controls the position.
Edkins tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Metaalic wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Metaalic is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
Edkins tries to bench press Metaalic off him but Metaalic keeps the position.
Edkins tries to control the position but he's not in luck - Metaalic easily slips into full mount!

Metaalic has been taking part in the yoga sessions down at Cozad Amsterdam. Presumably he's going to look for a slick submission... Or maybe he's looking to avoid one.

Edkins slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.
Well, if Metaalic is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Edkins looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
Metaalic is controlling the pace.

Edkins is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Metaalic pulls his head out easily.

Metaalic passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Edkins!
Edkins tries to hold on but Metaalic pushes him away.
Metaalic prevents Edkins from getting the reversal.
Edkins bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!
Metaalic is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

Edkins is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Metaalic is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Metaalic has escaped and now he's on top!


Edkins has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Metaalic is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Edkins.
Edkins is breathing heavily.

Metaalic tries to advance to mount but Edkins denies him.

Edkins dips to his left and cracks Metaalic with an uppercut!
Metaalic shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Edkins moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.

Metaalic has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Metaalic lands a couple of good shots and Edkins has given up his back, trying to escape the position!

Metaalic is landing with strikes. Edkins can't take much more of this.
Alex Metaalic has got the better of the ground game so far.
Metaalic is hanging on to Edkins's back as he tries to escape.
Metaalic controls the position.
Metaalic's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Edkins is defending well here and trying to improve his position.

Metaalic really has the hooks in deep now - there seems like no escape for Edkins.

Metaalic has the hooks sunk in and you can see the will to fight slowly draining out of Edkins's body.
Metaalic connects with a series of strikes and the referee is calling for Edkins to escape the position.

Edkins rolls, trying to escape but Metaalic keeps control of the position.

Alex Metaalic showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!


Edkins throws a left and a right that both miss

and Metaalic counters with a takedown into side control.
The referee asks Metaalic politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Metaalic prefers to stall for the moment though.
Edkins is trying to control Metaalic's posture but Metaalic avoids it.
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.
Edkins trying his best to control but Metaalic has mounted him.

A big strike lands for Metaalic! That's really hurt Edkins and he's turned his back - Metaalic keeps firing away and the ref dives in to stop the fight! Metaalic jumps to his feet to celebrate the victory!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:37 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Alex Metaalic!
Alex Metaalic spent the whole post fight interview bigging himself up. It didn't go down that well with the fans after a while as they thought it was a bit arrogant.
