PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Harry Owen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Andrew Tran (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Tran has chosen Blockbuster Night Part 1 as his entrance music. Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Harry Owen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 20 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Andrew Tran!
The judges for this bout are Damien Edna, Steve Erwin and Bruno Hogan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A head kick by Tran misses

and Owen counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Owen landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
Tran is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Owen is controlling the pace.
Tran is trying to control but can't.
Owen performing his best blanket impression for a moment.

Owen seems to be working for a kimura but Tran defends the submission attempt.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Owen works his foot free and advances to mount.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Tran defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Owen.
Owen breaks from Tran's wrist control and lands an elbow.
Owen manages to capitalize on a mistake by Tran to take his back!
Owen lands a punch that was close to the back of the head but the ref thinks it's OK.

Tran is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Owen gets his way!
Owen lands a punch to the side of the head from the back.

Owen is working for the choke. He's slipped one arm under the chin. Tran has to defend the other arm for all he's worth... but Owen has managed to get that arm free too and he's tightening the choke! Tran taps out and looks absolutely disgusted with himself. Owen doesn't care though - he's delighted!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:58 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Harry Owen!
Our winner, Harry Owen, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
Andrew Tran was interviewed post fight and said 'Well It Wasn't My Best Fight, But I Will Train Hard To Get Back In The Game And Win My Next Fight.'.
