Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Aurelio Rivera (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Billy Hope (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Billy Hope will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Aurelio Rivera!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Billy Hope!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Frank Antenori and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Hope fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Rivera sprawls well initially but Hope persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Hope thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Hope is just content to waste time from the top position. Rivera takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.
Hope wants to get up but he can't break Rivera's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Hope trying to control the position from guard on top but Rivera is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Hope's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Hope trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.

Rivera is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Hope is aware though and is defending well.
Hope trying to control but Rivera is working from the bottom.
Rivera seems keen to control Hope's posture.
Rivera keeping moving, preventing Hope from controlling successfully.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Hope drives through and clinches with Rivera against the cage.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Rivera tries to score a body lock takedown but Hope shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Hope utilising his Muay Thai to score with a knee to the body.
Rivera drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Hope gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Hope seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Rivera does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Hope is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
Rivera has his hands clasped together around Hope's back. He's all about the action.
Rivera trying to hold on to Hope's head to control him but Hope postures up.

Hope is trying to control the action in half guard but Rivera is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Rivera makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Rivera.

Hope gets to his feet - Rivera follows without any prompting.
A head kick by Hope misses

and Rivera moves into the clinch.

Hope escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Hope tries to clinch but fails miserably

and Rivera counters with a takedown into side control.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Hope explodes and escapes back to his feet! Nice escape there!

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Hope shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Rivera's guard.
Hope is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Rivera seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

Rivera working for submissions but it's allowed Hope to get to half guard.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Rivera is staying active underneath Hope, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.



Hope closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Rivera quickly recovers to half guard.
Rivera wants to control but Hope is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Rivera wants to control the action here but instead Hope manages to pass to full mount!

Hope seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
Hope thows a huge punch but Rivera dodges it nicely.

Rivera is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Hope pulls his head out easily.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Hope thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Rivera is refusing to be controlled, as Hope sits in half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hope tries to stand but his arm is trapped.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Aurelio Rivera is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Hope drives through with a takedown into Rivera's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
Rivera pulls Hope in close to prevent any damage.
Rivera looking to hit a scissor sweep but Hope is one step ahead there.

Hope has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Hope is breathing heavily.
Hope is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Rivera loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Hope is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Rivera thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Hope manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Billy Hope showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Rivera's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!

and Rivera counters with a three punch combo that has Hope backing up. Hope nods at Rivera to acknowledge the strikes.

Hope has Rivera up against the cage in a clinch.

Hope turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!

Hope is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Rivera is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Rivera is not content to let Hope control the position.

Rivera is trying to control Hope's posture but Hope avoids it.
Rivera sneaks back into half guard.
Rivera controlling the position for now.
Rivera tries to get to full guard but Hope has control of the leg.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Rivera desperately trying to maintain half guard.
Rivera trying to hold on to Hope's head to control him but Hope postures up.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Rivera holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Rivera has not gone for a single takedown so far in this fight, which seems like a very strange tactic when you consider that he has the superior wrestling and BJJ.
Hope wants to clinch up but Rivera keeps it at a distance.
Rivera walks into a stiff left hand from Hope.

Rivera gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Hope to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Rivera has his hands on Hope's head, controlling the position.
Hope controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Rivera is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Hope trying to control but Rivera is working from the bottom.

Rivera has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

Hope got a little sloppy there for a moment and Rivera has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Hope has managed to get both his arms back between Rivera's legs - danger averted.
Rivera doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Aurelio Rivera has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Billy Hope is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Hope drives through with a takedown into Rivera's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.

Billy Hope comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Hope winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
