PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between El Matador (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Fred Palowakski (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Palowakski has chosen Burning Down the House as his entrance music. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, El Matador!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 29 - 35 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Fred Palowakski!
The judges for this bout are Ren Mimura, Shigeki Sano and Taro Takaoka.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Matador tries for a takedown but Palowakski sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Fred Palowakski seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

and Matador counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Matador makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Matador won't allow Palowakski to sweep him here.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Palowakski can do anything to dispel that myth.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Palowakski stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Matador swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Matador closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Palowakski quickly recovers to half guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Matador is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Palowakski is just riding it out for now. Matador eventually gives up the hold.

and Matador counters with a single leg into guard. Palowakski didn't expect that.
Palowakski really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Matador. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Matador drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Matador jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Matador drops back, looking for a kneebar! Palowakski looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Palowakski looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Palowakski!

Palowakski is looking to take a break and control but Matador is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Matador wants to get back to his feet but Palowakski drags him back down.

Palowakski is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Matador is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Matador is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.

Matador pushes Palowakski away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Palowakski gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Palowakski is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Matador has escaped the position, nice work there.

Matador goes for a double leg but Palowakski avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Palowakski continues to drive forward.

Matador shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Palowakski as he avoids it easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for El Matador. That's going to take a lot out of him.
No joy there for Palowakski, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Matador shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Matador was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Matador thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Matador in side control, working for a kimura. He's got hold of an arm and he's torquing it... Palowakski is tapping! That's the end of the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:39 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). El Matador!
After winning the bout, El Matador thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
