The judges for this bout are Shigeki Fujiwara, Yukihiro Shimada and Tatsuya Matsuyama.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A looping hook to the body misses from Hardy. Sumerod does a little dance to reset his feet.
A jab from Hardy does it's job there.
Sumerod shoots in but Hardy avoids the takedown attempt easily.
A swing and a miss from Hardy.
Hardy swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Sumerod.
Sumerod wants to clinch up but Hardy keeps it at a distance.
Hardy pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Sumerod back to the cage. Hardy follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.

Hardy keeps the fight on the outside.

Sumerod tries to clinch there but Hardy circles away.

Sumerod lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Hardy backwards.

Still in the clinch, Sumerod scores with a nice short uppercut.

It looks like Chad Hardy has been cut.

Sumerod lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Hardy backwards.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Hardy tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Sumerod's elbow.
Sumerod lands an elbow inside that Hardy shrugs off.
Sumerod is fighting off a takedown attempt but Hardy is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Sumerod to the mat. Sumerod regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
Hardy avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Sumerod is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Hardy throws a sloppy strike and Sumerod has hooked up an armbar on the loose arm! He's turned and extended fully! Hardy is forced to tap! Great BJJ from Sumerod!
