PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between No Feget (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dougal McGuire (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). McGuire has chosen My Lovely Horse as his entrance music. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, No Feget!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Dougal McGuire!
The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Gwen Towbar and George Francis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Feget misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
McGuire throws a low kick but Feget avoids it.

Feget moves into range and clinches up with McGuire.
Feget lands an elbow that stopped McGuire in his tracks for a moment.


It looks like Dougal McGuire has been cut.
Stalling in the clinch from Feget.

Feget lands a takedown into guard.
Feget wants to get up but he can't break McGuire's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
McGuire is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Feget is controlling him.
McGuire trying to strike off his back.
Feget trying to stand up but can't free himself from McGuire's guard.

McGuire throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.
McGuire keeping moving, preventing Feget from controlling successfully.
Feget advances to half guard.
McGuire is refusing to be controlled, as Feget sits in half guard.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Feget checks a leg kick.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Feget moves into the clinch.
Feget is pressed up against the cage. McGuire has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Feget down to the mat. Feget avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Nice sprawl there from McGuire as Feget shoots in.
McGuire shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.
Feget tries to clinch but McGuire moves away
and McGuire counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.

Feget clinches up against the cage.
Feget is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. McGuire is defending well for now.

Feget ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Feget no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
McGuire trying to control but Feget is working from the bottom.
McGuire stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Feget swivels though and keeps the full guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Feget bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in McGuire's guard.

Feget trying to control the position from guard on top but McGuire is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Feget avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Feget stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. McGuire swivels though and keeps the full guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Feget trying to control the position from guard on top but McGuire is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Feget wants to get up but he can't break McGuire's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Feget trying to control but McGuire is working from the bottom.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
The fight stays on the outside here - Feget looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
McGuire was about to counter that last move with a leg kick but changes his mind.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Feget looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
McGuire can't keep his opponent in guard - Feget advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Feget wants to take a breather but McGuire is having none of it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

McGuire looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Feget working the head and body with strikes.
Feget looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Feget connects with a nice short shot to McGuire's temple.
Feget is keen to just control but McGuire is a slippery customer.
McGuire is trying to get back to full guard.
Feget wants to pass the guard but McGuire is defending well.
McGuire is trying to control but can't.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if McGuire can do anything to dispel that myth.
Feget passes to full mount!
Feget is trying to stand up but he's being controlled by his opponent.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Feget can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as McGuire is looking to escape.
Feget looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.
Feget trying to control but McGuire is having none of it.
Feget breaks from McGuire's wrist control and lands an elbow.
No Feget overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

McGuire is trying to get back to his feet but can't.
Feget lands a big shot there that rocks McGuire but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Feget scoring with strikes but McGuire is staying in there.


McGuire is rocked!
McGuire is squirming around, avoiding Feget's attempts to control the action.
McGuire is still in real trouble! Can Feget finish him?
McGuire sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
McGuire is staying active underneath Feget, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
McGuire seems to have recovered his senses.
Feget throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
McGuire avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Feget.
Feget seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but McGuire does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Feget is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because McGuire is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

Feget decides to stand and escape the position.

Feget closes the distance and pushes McGuire back into the cage.
Feget is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that McGuire can do to turn this around?

Feget turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Feget manages to end up in side control.
McGuire is breathing heavily.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Feget wants to lay and pray for a moment but McGuire keeps working.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Feget is really struggling to control McGuire but he's trying to hold on to the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

No Feget dominated that second round.
The cut man is working on Dougal McGuire's cut.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!



Feget moves into the clinch.
Feget has McGuire pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. McGuire manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Feget lands a nice elbow.
McGuire tries to pull guard but Feget holds him up against the cage and eventually McGuire drops back down to his feet.
Feget stops a takedown attempt from McGuire.
McGuire is pressed up against the cage. Feget has hold of a leg and is looking to drag McGuire down to the mat. McGuire avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

McGuire gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Feget to score an easy takedown into full guard.
McGuire has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Feget wants to control from the top but McGuire keeps moving.
Feget wants to stand but McGuire is controlling his posture from full guard.
Feget is working McGuire over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
McGuire working a defensive guard here.
Feget wants to control from the top but McGuire keeps moving.
McGuire is trying to keep Feget in close.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
McGuire attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin.
Feget looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.

Feget rushes McGuire and presses him up against the cage.
McGuire tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
No Feget has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Dougal McGuire.
Feget is trying to work for a single leg takedown but McGuire pulls him back up using the underhooks.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
McGuire trying to stall but Feget improves his position.
McGuire wants to stall.
McGuire is persisting with his attempts to control the action in the clinch, rather than do any real damage.
McGuire takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Feget is trying to drag McGuire to the mat but McGuire just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
The referee calls for Feget to work.
Feget is trying to work for a single leg takedown but McGuire pulls him back up using the underhooks.
McGuire gets underhooks to prevent Feget's takedown attempt.
Feget is defending well against a takedown attempt.

Feget escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Feget throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. McGuire tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Feget is in McGuire's guard.
McGuire wants to get back to his feet but Feget passes into half guard.

McGuire is staying active underneath Feget, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
McGuire has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Feget is working away from the top position though.
Dougal McGuire has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
No Feget is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

McGuire looking to force a kimura from the bottom here. He's concentrating on that move too much though and Feget pushes past his half guard into mount!

And that's the end of the fight!
No Feget showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Feget, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
