PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Grisha Kamenov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Remington Sanders (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Grisha Kamenov!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Remington Sanders !
The judges for this bout are Bruno Lombardi, Alyssa Summers and John Roberts.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kamenov shoots in but no luck this time.
Sanders lands an overhand right.


It looks like Grisha Kamenov has been cut.
Kamenov moves in looking to clinch but Sanders pushes him off.
Kamenov misses with a takedown attempt
and Sanders counters with a three punch combo that has Kamenov backing up. Kamenov nods at Sanders to acknowledge the strikes.
Sanders will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Sanders misses with a double jab.
Kamenov shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Sanders defends it nicely.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Grisha Kamenov. That's going to take a lot out of him.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Sanders throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
Kamenov looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Sanders is fending him off so far but Kamenov persists. Nope, Sanders circles away and we're back to standing.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
The crowd cheers as Sanders lands an impressive looking overhand right. Kamenov doesn't seem phased though.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Kamenov with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.

Kamenov instigates a clinch.
I was talking to Kamenov's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.
Kamenov jumps guard but Sanders turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Kamenov tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Sanders smiles and moves away.
Kamenov fails with a takedown attempt.
Kamenov throws a lazy body kick
and Sanders counters with a stiff right hand.
Kamenov takes a jab right on the kisser.


Grisha Kamenov's cut is getting worse.
Kamenov is trying hard to land a takedown here. Sanders sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Kamenov is breathing heavily.
Kamenov is looking to clinch but Sanders is avoiding it.
Kamenov walks straight into a right hand from Sanders - that's dropped him! Sanders jumps into mount and starts pounding away - can he finish?! More strikes go undefended and the referee has to dive in to save Kamenov from any more punishment! Kamenov complains about the stoppage but falls over as he tries to stand back up, so it was clearly a good stoppage.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:54 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Remington Sanders !
