Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Lorne Greenebaum (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Because I Can (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Because I Can will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the featherweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Lorne Greenebaum!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Because I Can!
The judges for this bout are Matti Vanhoillinen, Marco Blurström and Arvi Lind.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

I Can changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Greenebaum looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Greenebaum tries to bench press I Can off him but I Can keeps the position.

I Can goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Greenebaum has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for I Can but great work by Greenebaum.
I Can tries to buck Greenebaum off but Greenebaum is having none of it.
I Can manages to get back to half guard.
Greenebaum throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.

I Can is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Greenebaum pulls his head out easily.
Greenebaum looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
I Can wants to control but Greenebaum is keeping busy.
Greenebaum scoring with strikes to the body and head.

Greenebaum is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Greenebaum content to control rather than advance.

I Can looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
I Can is looking for a sweep. Greenebaum is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Greenebaum wants to control but I Can is keeping him busy.
Greenebaum wants to pass to mount but I Can is defending the position.
Greenebaum thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed I Can's head.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
I Can manages to get to full guard.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
I Can trying to control the position.

I Can had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Greenebaum defends it easily.

Greenebaum is in close to I Can's body, working some short punches and elbows.

I Can looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Greenebaum passes into half guard.
I Can trying to control from the bottom.
Nice strikes from Greenebaum there.
I Can is trying to get back to full guard.
Greenebaum is thwarting I Can's attempts to control the position.
Greenebaum has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
I Can is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Greenebaum drops an elbow to the side of I Can's head.
We've been hearing good reports from Greenebaum's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.
Greenebaum is keen to just control but I Can is a slippery customer.

Greenebaum is trying to work for a kimura but I Can is defending well.
I Can trying to hold on to Greenebaum's head to control him but Greenebaum postures up.
I Can is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
I Can is positioning himself well to prevent Greenebaum advancing to mount.
Greenebaum is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


I Can tries to clinch up.

Greenebaum moves into the clinch.
I Can misses with a hook from the clinch.
Greenebaum is pressed up against the cage. I Can has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Greenebaum down to the mat. Greenebaum avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Greenebaum moves out of range of the strikes.
Greenebaum keeps the fight on the outside.
I Can doesn't manage to clinch there - Greenebaum circles away.
I Can tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Greenebaum misses with a series of wild punches.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Greenebaum scores to the head and body with a nice combination!

Greenebaum closes the distance and pushes I Can back into the cage.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Greenebaum is trying to force a seperation but I Can has the dominant position.

Greenebaum pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

I Can gets tackled into the cage by Greenebaum. Greenebaum maintains the clinch.
I Can letting Greenebaum take a breather here.

I Can is fighting off a takedown attempt but Greenebaum is just too persistent for him and manages to trip I Can to the mat. I Can regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
I Can wants to sweep here but Greenebaum controlling him for the moment.

I Can is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Greenebaum got a little sloppy there for a moment and I Can has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Greenebaum has managed to get both his arms back between I Can's legs - danger averted.

Greenebaum sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed I Can's guard.
Greenebaum trying to control the action but I Can is working from the bottom.
I Can regains full guard. Nicely done.
Greenebaum controls from within his opponent's guard.
I Can has been taking part in the yoga sessions down at Holding Cell. Presumably he's going to look for a slick submission... Or maybe he's looking to avoid one.

Greenebaum wants to control from the top but I Can keeps moving.
Greenebaum passes I Can's right leg, so he's now in half guard.

Greenebaum is keen to just control but I Can is a slippery customer.
Greenebaum seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

Greenebaum fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
I Can tries to hold on but Greenebaum postures up.
Lorne Greenebaum overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
I Can is trying desperately to improve position.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Greenebaum is landing with some decent strikes but I Can is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
Greenebaum postures up and lands a whopping elbow - oh that's hurt I Can bigstyle! Two more strikes land for Greenebaum and the fight is over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:55 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Lorne Greenebaum!
Lorne Greenebaum is the new featherweight champion!
Lorne Greenebaum decided to call for a title shot in his post fight interview, which was very strange given the fact this fight was for a title and he's already the champion. I guess that's what getting punched in the head does for you.
In defeat, Because I Can stepped up to the mic, saying 'I'm so handsome i'm not surprised this guy was all over me the way he was!'.
