Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Lucian Silvestre!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 17 - 21 - 1, fighting out of Amsterdam, Mario Eikmeyer!
The judges for this bout are Aafke Stam, Radbod Blank and Paul Aken.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Silvestre displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Eikmeyer.

Eikmeyer looking for a takedown here - he's got it.

Eikmeyer is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Silvestre avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Eikmeyer drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Silvestre dives on top into guard.

Our spies down at at Club Pain (Sparring & Conditioning) inform us that Eikmeyer has really been working on his submissions in the buildup to this fight. Will it pay off?

Eikmeyer is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Silvestre is aware though and is defending well.

Eikmeyer working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Silvestre doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Silvestre manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Silvestre got a little sloppy there for a moment and Eikmeyer has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Silvestre has managed to get both his arms back between Eikmeyer's legs - danger averted.
Silvestre knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Eikmeyer on the ground.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Silvestre has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Eikmeyer to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Silvestre is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Eikmeyer pulls down on the head and he's put Silvestre to sleep! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:21 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Mario Eikmeyer!
In his post fight interview, Mario Eikmeyer started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
