Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Joe Risley (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Marcelo Aurelio (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 16 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Joe Risley!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Marcelo Aurelio!
The judges for this bout are Wagner Zegers, Paulsen Ambrosius and Nard Betker.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Aurelio misses with a shot to the body
and Risley counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Risley misses with a looping left.
Aurelio blocks a leg kick.
Risley scores with a three punch combo!


It looks like Marcelo Aurelio has been cut.
Donk. Risley catches Aurelio right on the button with a cross.
Aurelio throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Good shot there by Risley.
Risley looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Risley jabs at Aurelio's body.
Risley cracks Aurelio with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Aurelio throws a shot from downtown. Risley moves away and avoids it.
Aurelio wants to slow Risley down by chopping away at his legs.
Aurelio takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
Aurelio throws a hook but Risley blocks it.
Risley attempts a counter takedown but Aurelio avoids it well and moves away.
Aurelio misses with a wild body shot.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Aurelio has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.

Aurelio manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Risley on his heels. He'll look to pass Risley's guard now, I'm sure.

Risley is staying active underneath Aurelio, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Risley wants to control but Aurelio is keeping busy.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Aurelio looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Aurelio is working for a kimura but Risley is defending it quite comfortably.
Aurelio is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.

Risley is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Aurelio's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Aurelio's back!

Risley is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Aurelio has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Risley wants to control the position but Aurelio frees himself and scrambles - Risley manages to regain control in side control.

Risley can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Aurelio is looking to escape.

Aurelio defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Risley.
Aurelio keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Aurelio keeps trying to improve his position.
Risley lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Aurelio wants to control but Risley is having none of it.
Aurelio is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Aurelio tries to clinch up but Risley circles away and keeps his distance.
Risley lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Aurelio lands with a hook. Risley tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
Aurelio tries a low kick but Risley avoids it.
Aurelio throws a body punch but Risley moves out of range.
Aurelio pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Risley attempts a counter takedown but Aurelio avoids it well and moves away.
Aurelio looks for a takedown but Risley sprawls well.
Risley on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Aurelio. Aurelio obviously looking to wear him down.
Risley tries to check a leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Aurelio feints and then cracks Risley's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Risley down.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Risley jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Aurelio ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Risley moves away.
Aurelio fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

enabling Risley to counter with a crisp jab.
Marcelo Aurelio seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Risley lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.
Aurelio is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Risley rather than just go for the knockout.

Aurelio moves out of range of the leg kick from Risley.

Aurelio tries to work over Risley's front leg with a kick but Risley checks it.
Aurelio throws a lazy body kick

and Risley counters with a shoot takedown. Aurelio fights it but they end up in guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Risley working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Aurelio's head.
Joe Risley overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Aurelio managing to control the position.
Aurelio bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Risley's guard.

Aurelio postures up and lands a big shot to Risley's brow.

Risley throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Aurelio escapes and throws Risley's legs to the side, diving into side control!

Aurelio throws an elbow but Risley slips to the side and avoids it well.
Risley tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Risley takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.

Marcelo Aurelio showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

Aurelio misses with a low kick.
Aurelio on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.
Joe Risley is winning the standup battle so far.
Aurelio tries to score with a low kick but Risley moves his leg out of the way.

Risley misses with a body shot.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Risley crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Aurelio - the referee stops the clock and Risley gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Aurelio. Risley manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.

Risley takes a body punch but keeps moving.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Aurelio connects with a body shot that sends Risley's belly button to the back.
Aurelio throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Risley takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Risley takes a body kick right on the floating rib. Ouchie.

Aurelio has closed the distance and engaged Risley in a clinch.

Aurelio lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.
Aurelio lands a left hand that snaps the head of Risley backwards.
Aurelio blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Aurelio is trying to pull guard but Risley turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
A short uppercut from Risley.

Aurelio pulls guard effortlessly.
Risley pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Aurelio is keeping the position for now.
Aurelio wants to sweep but no luck.
Risley missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.

Risley stopping the sweep attempt from Aurelio.
Aurelio is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Aurelio is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Aurelio escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Risley gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Risley stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Aurelio.
Aurelio shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Risley pinned against the cage. Risley gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Risley moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Jab by Risley.
Aurelio ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Risley moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.
Risley waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Aurelio.
Aurelio just misses with a punch to the body.
Aurelio throws a leg kick but Risley sees it coming and moves out of range.
Risley's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Aurelio connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Risley scrambles back to his feet.
Risley takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards.
Risley turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Risley shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.
Risley scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Aurelio throws a wild body kick that Risley sees coming a mile off.
Aurelio fails with a takedown attempt.
Joe Risley has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Marcelo Aurelio.
Risley avoids a punch combination nicely.

And that's the end of the fight!
Marcelo Aurelio comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Aurelio has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
