The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Robert throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Winston.
Winston feints the counter takedown.
Sloppy strikes from Robert. Those never looked like landing.

Winston feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Winston working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though.

Winston has his foot on Robert's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Robert works his way back into a safe position though.

We've been hearing good reports from Robert's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

Winston might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Robert haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Winston has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Robert is working away from the top position though.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That was a close round but I would say that Botond Robert will probably get the nod.

Robert feints a jab promting Winston to slip. Robert then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Winston slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.

Winston shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Robert's guard.

Winston looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.

Robert has left one of his arms exposed and Winston doesn't need a second invitation. He's isolated it and locked on a tight armbar. Robert screams and taps out, obviously in a lot of pain. Hopefully there isn't permanent damage to that arm.
