Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Rodney Smith!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Nathan Griffin!
The judges for this bout are Phil Schofield, Colin Fotheringham and Sam Margolis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice uppercut lands for Griffin. That snapped Smith's head back.
A punch combination from Griffin misses.
A decent looking cross lands there for Griffin.
Smith steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Griffin.

Smith has managed to clinch.
Griffin displaying some good clinch control by pressing Smith up against the cage.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Smith.
Griffin is defending well against a takedown attempt.
Griffin blocking some punches.
Griffin working hard to break the clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Griffin looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.

Smith fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Smith pushes off an throws an elbow but Griffin leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the cage.
Smith definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.

Smith lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Griffin backwards.
Griffin lands a nice looking hook to the body, against the cage.
Smith lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.
Smith misses with a short punch on the inside.

Smith misses with some punches.
A frustrated look appears on Griffin's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Smith throws a punch but it's blocked by Griffin.

Smith breaks from the clinch.
Smith tries to clinch but Griffin moves away
and Griffin counters with a three punch combo that has Smith backing up. Smith nods at Griffin to acknowledge the strikes.
Griffin looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Griffin connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
A combination from Griffin does no damage.
Griffin will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Smith changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Griffin goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
Griffin rushes in with a sloppy looking punch

and Smith counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Griffin is trying to control but can't.
Griffin really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Smith. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Smith throwing shots but Griffin is blocking nicely.

Smith is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Griffin is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:52 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Rodney Smith!
