Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Vasili Komaroff (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gustavo Santos (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Komaroff comes to the cage accompanied by Here's To Us. I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

With a record of 10 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Vasili Komaroff!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 20 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Gustavo Santos!
The judges for this bout are Arvi Lind, Anni Minnemäki and Johanna Lukiainen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Komaroff moves into the clinch.

Komaroff pulls guard successfully.
Santos sitting in guard, not really doing much.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Santos wants to control from the top but Komaroff keeps moving.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Santos shoots in for a double leg but Komaroff sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Santos closes the distance and pushes Komaroff back into the cage.
Come on Santos - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.

Komaroff manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.

Santos drops back, looking for a kneebar! Komaroff looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Komaroff looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Komaroff!

Santos is looking to reverse the position.
Santos wants to control but Komaroff postures up.

Komaroff goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Santos rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Komaroff's guard! Nice work there by Santos!
Santos trying to control but Komaroff is working from the bottom.
Santos wants to pass the guard but Komaroff is keeping the position.
Komaroff keeping moving, preventing Santos from controlling successfully.

Komaroff wants to hit a switch here but Santos passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Komaroff there!
Komaroff wants to hold on but Santos pushes him away.
Santos looking to control but Komaroff is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Santos might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Komaroff haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
Komaroff wants to hold on but Santos pushes him away.
Santos looking to control but Komaroff is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

Santos swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Komaroff is now in Santos's guard. A big mistake from Santos there, giving up the dominant position!
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Komaroff not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Santos looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Komaroff passes into half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Vasili Komaroff will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Santos takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Santos keeps the fight on the outside.

Santos closes the distance and clinches.
Santos misses with some punches.
Santos tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
Santos stalls.

Komaroff has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Santos is trying to keep an underhook but Komaroff manages to get the takedown into half guard.
Santos tries to push off, looking to stand up, but Komaroff manages to move to mount!
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Komaroff moves to the back.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Santos is trying to get back to his feet. He's worked up on to his knees and now he's on his feet with his head on the canvas, trying to shake Komaroff off. It looks like it's working - Komaroff slides off, much to his dismay, and we're back to standing! Santos displaying calm under pressure there.
Santos gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Komaroff.
Komaroff seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym.
Komaroff sizes up Santos with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
Santos moves away from the strike by Komaroff.
Santos changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.
Santos looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Komaroff is fending him off so far but Santos persists. Nope, Komaroff circles away and we're back to standing.

Santos clinches up with Komaroff and pushes him back against the cage.
Santos is looking to take this one to the mat.

Komaroff has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Santos uses from the top position.
Komaroff can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Santos controls the pace.
Komaroff wants to sweep but no luck.

Santos prevents Komaroff from getting back to his feet.
Komaroff tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Komaroff swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Santos.
Komaroff looks to land a right hand but Santos moved out of range.
Vasili Komaroff seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Komaroff connects with the punch.

Vasili Komaroff is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Komaroff clinches up with Santos and pushes him back against the cage.

Komaroff has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Santos regains guard immediately.
Santos controls Komaroff momentarily but Komaroff frees himself.

Komaroff has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Santos trying to keep a closed guard but Komaroff is proving a slippery customer.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

Santos is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Komaroff defends well.

That's time! Komaroff's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!


Santos shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Santos walks into a stiff left hand from Komaroff.

Komaroff moves into the clinch.

Komaroff has clasped his hands together around Santos's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.

You can see the frustration on Santos's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Komaroff has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Santos regains guard immediately.
Santos can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Komaroff controls the pace.
Komaroff would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Santos is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Komaroff slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Vasili Komaroff overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Santos isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Komaroff stacks Santos on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Komaroff!
The referee asks Komaroff politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Komaroff prefers to stall for the moment though.

Komaroff has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.

Komaroff drags the fight down to the ground.
Santos trying to control the position from guard on top but Komaroff is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Santos's corner is telling him to maintain position.

And that's the end of the fight!
Vasili Komaroff showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Komaroff, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
