Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between John Taslim (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Johnny Whiteside (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Taslim comes to the cage accompanied by Finch - What It Is To Burn?. The key to victory for John Taslim has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Taslim cracks Whiteside with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.

Whiteside takes one to the side of the head.
Taslim pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Whiteside comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Taslim throws a head kick but Whiteside moves out of range.
Whiteside misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Taslim.
Whiteside tries for a takedown but Taslim sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

and Whiteside counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Taslim has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Whiteside is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position.
Whiteside pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Taslim is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.

Taslim leaves Whiteside with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Whiteside throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Taslim stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Whiteside fails to land with a series of punches.
Taslim gets caught flat footed, as Whiteside shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Taslim is trying to keep Whiteside in close.
Taslim wants to get back to his feet but Whiteside is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Whiteside loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Whiteside got a little sloppy there for a moment and Taslim has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Whiteside has managed to get both his arms back between Taslim's legs - danger averted.

Taslim has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Whiteside is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Taslim.
Taslim is trying to control Whiteside's posture but Whiteside avoids it.
Taslim is not content to let Whiteside control the position.

That was a close round but I would say that John Taslim will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Taslim throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Whiteside sees it coming and avoids it easily.
The fighters circle momentarily. Taslim darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Whiteside shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Taslim is trying to defend but Whiteside finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Whiteside is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Taslim knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
