Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Granville Avila (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Clint Sleet (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Clint Sleet has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Granville Avila's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Granville Avila!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Clint Sleet!
The judges for this bout are Winston Howard, Darius Henderson and Chris Dean.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sleet fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Sleet darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Avila trying to control but Sleet postures up.

Sleet is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Sleet wants to stand up but Avila has a hold of him and won't allow it.
Avila is looking to improve his position.

Avila is trying to maintain the position but Sleet is very close to passing his half guard.
Avila is in a bad position, trying to hold on for dear life but he is really struggling to maintain any sort of control.
Sleet throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

Avila is looking to control Sleet's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Avila avoid being mounted?

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Sleet prevents Avila from standing back up.
Sleet wants to stand up but Avila is controlling the position.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Avila bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.

Clint Sleet seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Sleet tries to clinch but Avila moves out of range.

Sleet just manages to avoid a counter high kick fromAvila.
Avila shoots in looking for a takedown but Sleet manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Avila's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

This has been an exciting period of action!

Avila tries to sprawl but Sleet drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Sleet blocks the strikes from Avila.
Avila knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Sleet on the ground.

Sleet wants to work for an arm triangle but Avila is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Sleet thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Avila's head.
Avila tries to get to full guard but Sleet has control of the leg.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Clint Sleet will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Avila checks a low kick from Sleet.
Sleet swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Sleet misses with a takedown attempt - Avila sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Avila moves into range and clinches up with Sleet.
Sleet is trying to pull guard but Avila turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.

Sleet is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Avila is keeping busy.
Sleet tries to pull guard but Avila forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
Granville Avila has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Clint Sleet.

Sleet jumps guard but Avila stands there with Sleet around his waist. Sleet gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Avila has had enough of the clinch but Sleet keeps him there for the moment.
Avila is trying to force a seperation but Sleet has the dominant position.
Avila really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Sleet keeps control of Avila as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Sleet tries for a takedown. No joy.
Avila is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Sleet is keeping busy.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Avila breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Sleet throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Avila throws a leg kick but Sleet checks it.

Avila gets caught flat footed, as Sleet shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Sleet is breathing heavily.
Sleet wants to pass the guard but Avila is keeping the position.
Avila wants to sweep here but Sleet controlling him for the moment.
Sleet is working Avila over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Avila will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Avila throws some sloppy strikes off his back.
Sleet slips nicely into half guard.

Avila slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Sleet working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Avila tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Avila has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Sleet has passed into side control.

Sleet looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.

Avila managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Sleet.
Avila is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Sleet off and has taken his back!
Sleet manages to reverse the position and now he's in Avila's guard. Nice work there by Sleet.
Avila wants to stand but Sleet is controlling the position.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Avila seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

Sleet closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Sleet gets to mount! Avila was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Avila is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

Sleet working for a submission but Avila is keeping him at bay.

Sleet sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Avila controls the position.

Sleet takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Sleet is giving the impression that he's looking to ground and pound but he switches suddenly into a beautiful far side armbar! Avila is forced to tap! Great finish!
