PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Sangram Singh (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Seth Smolka (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The key to victory for Sangram Singh has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 25 - 0, fighting out of New York, Sangram Singh!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Seth Smolka!
The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, Steve Smith and Trevor Gratis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Singh throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Smolka's waist but Smolka gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Singh off to one side.
Smolka blocks a head kick by Singh.

Singh closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Smolka wants to control but Singh postures up.
Smolka manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
Singh wants to get back to his feet.
Smolka is keen to just control but Singh is a slippery customer.

Singh actively working from the bottom here.
Singh is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Singh is trying to escape back to his feet but Smolka uses the scramble to pass into side control.
Smolka really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Singh. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Singh avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Smolka.
Singh is looking to regain half guard here but Smolka keeps moving and retains side control.

Smolka is looking to get back to his feet here but Singh is keeping cool and he's managed to take Smolka's back.

Singh is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Smolka is defending well though. Singh let's go of the attempt for now.

Smolka grimaces as he takes a shot to the body.
You can see the frustration on Smolka's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.
Singh connects with a series of strikes and the referee is calling for Smolka to escape the position.

Singh changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Smolka looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Singh connects with a nice short shot to Smolka's temple.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!


Singh shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Smolka defends it nicely.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Singh, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
