PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jim Beans (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jack Stelling (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Stelling has chosen London Calling as his entrance music. I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Jack Stelling was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Jim Beans!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 21 - 1, fighting out of London, Jack Stelling !
The judges for this bout are James Ackerman, Sam Margolis and Steven Brown.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Beans connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Stelling 's hands.
Beans definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.

Beans moves into range and clinches up with Stelling .
A battle for position here, against the cage.
An uppercut to the body lands inside from Beans.

Stelling manages to break the clinch.
Beans lunges at Stelling with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Stelling 's hand.
Beans throws a body kick despite being completely out of range
and Stelling connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Beans slaps away a takedown attempt from Stelling , before circling back to the center of the mat.
Beans lands a nice shot to the body.
Stelling keeping at a good range here, avoiding a leg kick.

Beans tries to sprawl but Stelling drives through with a takedown into half guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Stelling seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

Stelling is working for an americana but Beans has been sneaky and has managed to get back to half guard, whilst Stelling was thinking about the submission.

Stelling gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Beans tests Stelling 's chin there with a solid looking shot.

Beans has closed the distance and engaged Stelling in a clinch.
Stelling is trying to pull guard but Beans turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.

Beans pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Beans is looking to control Stelling 's arms but Stelling gets an underhook and turns him. Now Beans has his back to the cage.
Stelling blocks a punch to the side of the head.

Beans escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Jim Beans seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Stelling takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Stelling tries to move into range but Beans moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
Beans misses with a low kick as Stelling jumps back.
Stelling closes this distance looking for a takedown but Beans circles away.
Jim Beans has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jack Stelling .
Stelling has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Stelling there as he acknowledges the shot.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Beans throws a leg kick that misses.
Beans is looking to chop away at Stelling 's legs.
Stelling avoids a kick to the body.
As Beans backs off Stelling throws a huge counter combo but Beans manages to avoid it all.
Stelling tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Beans defends well and Stelling ends up having to push Beans into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Stelling with the counter takedown but Beans avoids it easily.
Beans motions for Stelling to come forward. Beans throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.

Beans has closed the distance and engaged Stelling in a clinch.
Stelling misses with the head strike.

Beans breaks from the clinch.
Nice sprawl there from Beans as Stelling shoots in.

Stelling looking to score a takedown here. Beans is defending well but Stelling drives through and ends up in Beans's guard.
In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Stelling working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though.
Stelling with a nice head shot there.
Stelling is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Beans wants to stand but Stelling is controlling the position.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Beans fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Stelling checks it well.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jim Beans dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Stelling on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.
Stelling tries to bum rush Beans with a series of wild strikes but Beans uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Beans is looking to chop away at Stelling 's legs.
Stelling moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.

Stelling is looking for the big counter here.
Stelling tries for a takedown but Beans sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Stelling fails with a takedown attempt.
Jim Beans is winning the standup battle so far.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Stelling 's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Beans connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Stelling scrambles back to his feet.
Beans takes a head kick and shrugs it off.

Stelling moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.


Stelling is rocked!
Stelling misses with a takedown attempt - Beans sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
A little feinted left hand from Beans on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Stelling is still on wobbly legs! Can Beans finish him?
Jim Beans has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jack Stelling .
Stelling walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Stelling gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Beans throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.

Stelling shoots and misses
and Beans comes in over the top with a devastating right hand! Stelling stumbles back against the cage, looking to regain his senses but Beans is on him like rabid pit bull! Stelling slumps to the ground under a storm of punches and this fight is over!
