Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Lucas Schultz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Paul Walnuts (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Lucas Schultz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Paul Walnuts!
The judges for this bout are Alyssa Summers, Steve Montenegro and Chad Campbell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Walnuts changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Schultz on the wrong end of a nice jab.

Walnuts has taken the fight to the clinch.

Schultz has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Walnuts is trying to keep an underhook but Schultz manages to get the takedown into half guard.
Walnuts has his hands clasped together around Schultz's back. He's all about the action.

Schultz is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Walnuts is just riding it out for now. Schultz eventually gives up the hold.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Walnuts is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Schultz pulls his head out easily.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Schultz is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Walnuts felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.
Walnuts controlling the position for now.

Schultz is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Walnuts has his hands clasped together around Schultz's back. He's all about the action.
Schultz is looking to advance position but Walnuts won't allow it.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Walnuts controlling the position well.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Schultz is trying to control. Walnuts wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Schultz wants to get back to his feet.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Schultz looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.

Schultz looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.

Walnuts kicks Schultz off and gets back to his feet.
Paul Walnuts seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Walnuts moves into range and clinches up with Schultz.
Walnuts on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.

Schultz ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Schultz no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Walnuts looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
Walnuts makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Walnuts works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Walnuts lands strikes from half guard.
Schultz missing with punches from the bottom.
Walnuts winds up and cracks Schultz with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Walnuts controlling the action here.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Schultz looking for submissions off his back.
Schultz is breathing heavily.
Walnuts is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.


Schultz is rocked!
Walnuts scores with a big shot! Schultz's head bounced off the canvas with a huge thud! More strikes land and the referee has jumped in to save Schultz! He was hurt real bad - good stoppage!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:43 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Paul Walnuts!
