Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Marco Polo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mitchell Menchaka (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Polo comes to the ring accompanied by On The Floor. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 14 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Marco Polo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 7 - 1, fighting out of New York, Mitchell Menchaka!
The judges for this bout are Tatsuya Matsuyama, Yuuki Gou and Hirohito Nitta.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Menchaka connects with a right hand. Polo shakes it off.
A telegraphed right hand from Menchaka misses the target.

Polo moves into range and clinches up with Menchaka.
Polo is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the ropes enables Menchaka to keep the fight standing.
Menchaka wants to get back to striking at distance but Polo won't allow it.
Polo misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Polo tries to break free but Menchaka pushes him back against the ropes.

Menchaka breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Menchaka throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Polo sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Nice defenses there by Polo.
Polo seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym.
Polo shoots in looking for a takedown but Menchaka manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Polo's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Polo dives in for a single leg takedown but Menchaka sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the ropes.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Marco Polo. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Menchaka scores with a nice head shot.

Menchaka takes the fight into the clinch.
Polo is trying to force a seperation but Menchaka has the dominant position.

Polo's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Menchaka lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Polo tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Menchaka manages to circle out of the way.
Menchaka tests Polo's chin there with a solid looking shot.


It looks like Marco Polo has been cut.
Polo tries to clinch but Menchaka is having none of it.
Menchaka throws a fast counter high kick but Polo manages to duck under it in time.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Polo throws a nice inside leg kick.

Menchaka avoids the head kick by Polo.

Polo shoots in and drives through. Menchaka sprawls well.
Menchaka connects with a jab.
Polo bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.

Menchaka might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.

Menchaka lands with an uppercut that bounces Polo off the ropes and back into range.

Mitchell Menchaka is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

and Menchaka counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

Polo has Menchaka up against the ropes in a clinch.
Menchaka gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Polo.

Polo gets control of Menchaka's arms and successfully pulls guard. Polo will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Polo wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
Polo is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Polo bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Menchaka's guard.

Polo throws a big elbow that misses.
Polo wants to control from the top but Menchaka keeps moving.

Polo drops back looking for a leg! Menchaka is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Menchaka manages to kick Polo off! Polo jumps back into Menchaka's guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mitchell Menchaka dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Marco Polo's cut.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Polo looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Menchaka is fending him off so far but Polo persists. Nope, Menchaka circles away and we're back to standing.
Polo tries for a takedown but Menchaka sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Menchaka feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Polos jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
Menchaka is looking to clinch.

Polo changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Menchaka looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Polo is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Menchaka's shoulder. That is not cool.

Polo tries to move to mount but Menchaka blocks the move with his legs.
Menchaka is not content to let Polo control the position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Polo slows the pace down.
Polo creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Menchaka sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
Menchaka pushes Polo away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Polo gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
Menchaka really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Polo. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Polo tries to advance to mount but can't.

A lull in the action here as Polo stalls from top position.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Polo with the ground and pound but Menchaka regains half guard under the barage of strikes.
Polo is looking to take a break and control but Menchaka is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Menchaka is trying to stand up here but Polo is controlling him well.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Polo displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Menchaka throws out the jab.
Polo is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from Menchaka.
Menchaka displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Polo.

Menchaka rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Polo moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Polo looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

The fight stays on the outside here - Polo looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Menchaka fails to land with a series of punches.
Menchaka lands with a hook. Polo tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
Polo bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Polo uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Menchaka.

Menchaka throws his opponent off and manages to get back to his feet! Nicely done!

As Menchaka tries to get set, Polo tries to push him back and clinch up but Menchaka manages to avoid the attempt.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Menchaka, as that shot connected.
Menchaka pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Menchaka misses with a hook.

Polo drives through with a takedown into Menchaka's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
Menchaka wants to stand up but Polo is controlling him.

Polo gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Menchaka swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Menchaka lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Polo circles away quickly and effectively.
Menchaka ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Polo moves away.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Polo.
Menchaka is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Polo.
Menchaka moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.
Polo shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Polo closes this distance looking for a takedown but Menchaka circles away.

Polo will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Menchaka comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Polo takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Menchaka misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

A looping hook to the body misses from Menchaka. Polo does a little dance to reset his feet.
Polo tries to score a power double leg takedown but Menchaka sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Polo somewhat.
Menchaka now looks to counter with a shot at the body.
Menchaka throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
Menchaka uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Polo.
Menchaka connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
Polo misses with a body shot.

Polo feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Menchaka wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Polo manages to pass to side control.

Polo wants to control from the top but Menchaka keeps moving.

Mitchell Menchaka comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Menchaka winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
