Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Drew Fournier!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Mike Harving!
The judges for this bout are John Kavanagh, Bruno Lombardi and Jorge Garcia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

A momentary lapse in concentration from Harving enables Fournier to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Harving manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
We've been hearing that Fournier has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish.
Fournier throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Harving works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Fournier decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

Fournier drives through with a takedown into guard.
Fournier stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Harving swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Fournier postures up in Harving's guard and throws a big left but Harving blocks it.
Harving is looking to stand up but Fournier isn't so interested in that idea.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Fournier slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Fournier throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Harving works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Fournier postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Fournier controls from within his opponent's guard.
Fournier has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Fournier takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Harving lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Fournier circles away quickly and effectively.
Fournier throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Harving's waist but Harving gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Fournier off to one side.
Fournier is breathing heavily.
Harving fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Harving is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Fournier closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Fournier lands in his opponent's guard.
Fournier is looking to work some ground and pound but Harving has wrist control.

Fournier stands and steps away. Harving gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Harving throws a mid kick that lands with a slap.
Harving throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.
Harving stuffs the takedown attempt from Fournier. Fournier gets slowly back to his feet.
Harving looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
Harving moves in looking to clinch but Fournier pushes him off.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Harving listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut.
Harving tries to clinch there but Fournier circles away.
Harving's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Harving duly obliges.
Harving looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Sloppy strikes from Harving. Those never looked like landing.
Fournier half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.
Mike Harving seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Fournier closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Fournier takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Fournier not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.

Fournier is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Harving is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:58 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Drew Fournier!
