Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Giblert Melendez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kyrie Perry (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the middleweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Giblert Melendez !
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Kyrie Perry!
The judges for this bout are Luis Engracia, Thiago Cunha and Leandro Rodrigues.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Melendez keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Perry.
Perry throws the left hand but Melendez avoids the punch easily.
Melendez looks to land a right hand but Perry moved out of range.
Perry throws a right hand that misses
and Melendez counters with a thumping low kick.
Melendez bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Perry's head backwards.
Perry steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Melendez .
Perry scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Melendez avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Melendez feinted there with a counter leg kick.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Perry changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Melendez tries to avoid it but Perry manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Melendez to the ground. Melendez escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
And Melendez counters with a quick kick to the body but Perry blocks it.

That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Perry crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Melendez - the referee stops the clock and Perry gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Melendez . Perry manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.

That was a close round but I would say that Giblert Melendez will probably get the nod.

Melendez looks like he's developed a pretty tasty lump over his left eye. He'll need to avoid taking much more damage to that.
Melendez connects with a leg kick. Perry looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.

Perry tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Melendez defends well and Perry ends up having to push Melendez into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
The fight stays on the outside here - Melendez looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
