Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Gary Grice (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Justin Hall (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Grice's entrance music is GZA - Shadowboxin'. A fine choice. Man, I cannot wait for this one!

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 15 - 0, fighting out of New York, Justin Hall!
The judges for this bout are Russell Pearce, John Kavanagh and Anthony Taglia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Grice takes a swing at Hall's ribcage but misses.
Hall drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Grice defends it well.
Grice lands a jab.


It looks like Justin Hall has been cut.
Hall takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Grice looks to throw the jab but Hall is out of range.
A cross from Grice lands.
Grice connects with a solid leg kick.
Hall moves out of range of the strikes.
Grice misses with a double jab
enabling Hall to counter with a crisp jab.
Grice lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
A slapping leg kick lands for Hall.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Grice wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.

Grice moves into the clinch successfully.
Grice pushes Hall back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Hall looking to slow down the pace here.
A left hand lands to the body for Hall.
Hall is trying to maintain a safe position but Grice gets an underhook and turns Hall into the cage.
Hall lands with a short head shot on the inside.
Grice is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Hall is keeping busy.
A nice right hand lands inside from Hall.
Grice cracks Hall with a nice body shot.
Grice pressing his opponent against the cage.
Hall takes a shot to the head.
Grice tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Hall's elbow.
Good anti-grappling being displayed by Hall as Grice tries to tie him up.
Hall misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Good body shot from Hall.
Hall blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Come on Hall - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.

Grice misses with some punches.
Hall tries to stall but Grice uses the opportunity to gain a better position.
Hall working hard to break the clinch.
Grice works on Hall's body with a couple of short punches.
Grice is leaning against Hall and scores with a nice uppercut to the body.
Grice misses with a body punch.
Grice blocks a body shot from Hall.
Grice goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Hall being controlled against the cage.
Grice fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Grice throws a punch but it's blocked by Hall.
Hall's coach down at THC playhouse was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Hall's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.
Grice misses with a body punch.
Hall taking a breather.
The referee is keeping an eye on Grice - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.

Grice escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Hall avoids a lazy jab quite easily.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Hall walks into a jab.
Grice tries a head kick but it misses.
A lazy body kick from Grice
and Hall counters with a low kick, right behind Grice 's knee.
Hall connects with a nice looking jab.
Grice pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.

Grice lands a big head kick that sends Hall tumbling to the mat! Grice takes a step backwards and waves Hall back to his feet - he wants the finish!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Grice has taken the fight to the clinch.
Grice throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Halls head.
Grice is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Grice.
Hall swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Hall blocks an uppercut.
Some stalling of biblical proportions here from Hall.
A right hand to the body from Hall.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Grice creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Hall goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
A shot in the inside from Grice.
A nice left hand lands by Hall.
Grice tries to work over Hall's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
Grice misses with a hook from the clinch.
Grice effectively controlling the action here.
Hall tries to stall but Grice uses the opportunity to gain a better position.
Hall throws a head punch that misses.
Hall tries to throw a body punch but Grice avoids it by throwing Hall back against the cage.

Grice breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Hall checks a leg kick.
Hall now looks to counter with a shot at the body.
Grice uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Hall has time to react.
Grice takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Grice just misses with a punch to the body.
A solid body kick from Grice.
Whack! Grice lands a heavy head kick that drops Hall. The ref tackles Grice to stop the fight - a great save by the referee because Hall was done.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 5:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Head Kick). Gary Grice!
During a confident post fight interview, Gary Grice thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
