Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between John Akers (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Macadam Baird (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, John Akers!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Macadam Baird!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Lombardi, Dean Styles and John Roberts.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Baird slips a jab and a cross from Akers.
Baird throws a jab when Akers was well out of range.
Baird has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Akers is landing a low percentage of strikes.
Baird looks to land a left hand but Akers moved out of range nicely.

Akers is looking to counter with a shot to the body.

Akers shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Baird defends it nicely.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Baird lands a nice short elbow.

Baird has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Baird seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

Baird is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Akers is just riding it out for now. Baird eventually gives up the hold.
Baird takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

Akers is bucking up trying to escape but Baird cracks him with another couple of good strikes.

Akers is rocked!

It looks like John Akers has been cut.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Akers's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.
Oh Akers is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Baird unloads with some vicious shots from mount and Akers wants out - he looks towards the referee who steps in to save him! Baird celebrates on the cage and the crowd goes wild!
