Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 35 - 17 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Alexandr Romanov!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 20 - 16 - 1, fighting out of Hilo, Felipe Calderon!
The judges for this bout are Paul Gruel, Micheangelo Fripello and Jeff Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Calderon tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Romanov paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Calderon is trying hard to land a takedown here. Romanov sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
We've been told by Romanov's head coaches at Russian Top Team Elite Gym that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Calderon fails with the takedown
and Romanov counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Romanov avoids the head kick by Calderon.
Calderon moves out of range as Romanov strikes.
Romanov circles away from the clinch attempt
and Romanov counters with a stiff right hand.
A swing and a miss from Calderon.
Romanov feints a jab promting Calderon to slip. Romanov then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Calderon slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.
Calderon dives in for a single leg takedown but Romanov sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Alexandr Romanov has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Felipe Calderon.
Calderon tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Romanov defends well and Calderon ends up having to push Romanov into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Calderon shoots in but Romanov avoids the takedown attempt easily.
As Calderon looks to move away, Romanov throws a big counter combo but Calderon just gets out of the way.
Romanov throws a shot to the body.

Romanov lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Calderon circles away quickly and effectively.
Romanov has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Calderon finds it's way round the side to connect with Romanov's head.
Calderon misses with a straight left.
Romanov scores with a head kick. Calderon tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time.
Romanov lands with an overhand left.

Calderon rushes Romanov and presses him up against the cage.
Calderon prevents Romanov from breaking the clinch.
Romanov is trying to push Calderon away but Calderon has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
Calderon tries to pull guard but Romanov holds him up against the cage and eventually Calderon drops back down to his feet.
Romanov tries to break free but Calderon pushes him back against the cage.
Calderon jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Romanov walks away with a smile on his face. Calderon gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Romanov throws a head kick that misses

and Calderon counters with a single leg into guard. Romanov didn't expect that.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Calderon is looking to advance position but Romanov has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!

Calderon tries to reverse the position but Romanov maintains control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Calderon wants to control but Romanov is having none of it.
Calderon really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Calderon has given up his back here.
Calderon wants to escape the position.
Calderon is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

Romanov avoiding Calderon 's attempts to control his hands.
Calderon is trying to avoid being dragged into an even worse position than he's already in but Romanov is staying active.
Calderon is in bad spot here.
You know, I was talking to some of our celebrities at ringside tonight and they were split right down the middle on who was going to win this fight.
Calderon tries to roll but Romanov sticks to his back.
Calderon looking very determined here, making life difficult for Romanov.
You can see the frustration on Calderon's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.

Romanov is riding his opponent, not letting Calderon buck him off.
Calderon rolls, trying to escape but Romanov keeps control of the position.
What can Calderon do to escape this position? He's going to have to figure it out pretty quick if he wants to stay in the fight!

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Romanov's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Romanov uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Calderon.
Romanov has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Calderon finds it's way round the side to connect with Romanov's head.

Calderon closes the distance and clinches.

Romanov breaks from the clinch.
Calderon shoots in for a takedown but Romanov shows good takedown defense.
It looked like Romanov wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Romanov!
The fighters circling - Calderon throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Calderon changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Romanov tries to avoid it but Calderon manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Romanov to the ground. Romanov escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Romanov will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Alexandr Romanov is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Calderon is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Calderon.

Romanov throws Calderon to one side and escapes!

Romanov misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Romanov loads up on a big right hand but Calderon slips the punch.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Romanov, as that shot connected.
Calderon scores with a kick to the midsection.
Calderon takes one on the chin but keeps coming.

Calderon clinches up with Romanov and pushes him back against the cage.
Calderon tries to pull guard but Romanov holds him up against the cage and eventually Calderon drops back down to his feet.

Calderon pulls Romanov into guard.

Calderon looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Calderon working a defensive guard but Romanov manages to pass into side control anyway.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Romanov stands up and beckons Calderon to his feet.

Calderon takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
Calderon shoots in but no luck this time.
Alexandr Romanov is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Calderon misses with a wild body shot.
Calderon is looking to land body kicks.
Romanov lands with a slapping head kick.
Calderon's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Romanov connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Calderon scrambles back to his feet.
A low kick from Calderon is predictable there
and Romanov counters with a left and a right... and another left... and another!! That last one turned off the lights! Calderon has no idea who he is and is as he gazes up at the spotlights. Brutal knockout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:42 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Alexandr Romanov!
After winning the bout, Alexandr Romanov thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
