Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Joey Cartona!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
3 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Assassin Sokoudjou!
The judges for this bout are Lou da Vinci, Joseph Jones and Eddie Farnsworth.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cartona ducks under a wild hook from Sokoudjou.
Cartona slips a jab and a cross from Sokoudjou.
Cartona tried to counter with a leg kick but Sokoudjou avoided it.
Cartona looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
A combination from Sokoudjou does no damage.
A big right from Cartona misses.
Cartona with a nice cross.
It looks like Assassin Sokoudjou has been cut.
Cartona misses with a looping left.
Sokoudjou swinging wildly here.
Cartona tries to counter by clinching up but Sokoudjou breaks away and moves out of range.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
A head kick by Sokoudjou misses
and Cartona connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
A combination from Sokoudjou does no damage.
Cartona was looking to counter that last move with a shot to the body but he didn't commit.
Cartona comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Sokoudjou misses with a double jab.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Nice straight punches there by Cartona. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Cartona.
Sokoudjou throws a sloppy head kick and Cartona moves out of range easily.
Sokoudjou misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
As Sokoudjou tries to get set, Cartona tries to push him back and clinch up but Sokoudjou manages to avoid the attempt.
Sokoudjou throws a big shot that misses.
Cartona cracks Sokoudjou with a big right hand that sends him crashing to the floor. Cartona has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning Sokoudjou to stand back up!
Sokoudjou is rocked!
That has opened up Assassin Sokoudjou's cut even more.
A head kick by Sokoudjou misses
and Cartona counters with a big left hand that crumples Sokoudjou! He was out before he hit the floor! Brutal knockout!
