PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Kris Bradford (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gareth Gledhill (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gledhill comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Wrecking ball kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Gareth Gledhill has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 5 - 0, fighting out of London, Kris Bradford!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Gareth Gledhill!
The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, Chris Edwards and Phil Schofield.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gledhill shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.
Gledhill tries to clinch

so Bradford counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

Gledhill kicks Bradford off and gets to his feet.
Bradford shoots in looking for a takedown. Gledhill tries to sprawl out of it but Bradford keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Gledhill manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Gledhill closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Bradford to the mat! Bradford manages to get full guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Gledhill looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Bradford makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Bradford.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Gledhill trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Bradford is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Gledhill wants to pass the guard but Bradford is keeping the position.
Gledhill trying to control the position from guard on top but Bradford is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Bradford is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Bradford has his foot on Gledhill's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Gledhill works his way back into a safe position though.
Bradford will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Bradford has momentary wrist control but Gledhill slips an elbow through the middle.

Gledhill shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Bradford's guard.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Bradford is refusing to be controlled, as Gledhill sits in half guard.
Bradford is trying to get back to full guard.
Gledhill wants to free his trapped foot but Bradford is holding on for dear life with his legs.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Bradford has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Gledhill is working away from the top position though.

Bradford has hold of Gledhill's hands but Gledhill slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.

Gledhill seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Bradford does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

We've been informed that Gledhill has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.

Gledhill wants to work for an arm triangle but Bradford is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Bradford is not content to let Gledhill control the position.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Both fighters circling a little - Gledhill finishes the exchange with a kick to the body.
Bradford really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Gledhill throws a nice looking combination but Bradford bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
As Gledhill looks to move away, Bradford throws a big counter combo but Gledhill just gets out of the way.
Gledhill misses with a double jab.
Gareth Gledhill seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Bradford goes for a double leg but Gledhill avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Gledhill continues to drive forward.

You can see the frustration on Bradford's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Bradford tries to buck Gledhill off but Gledhill is having none of it.

Gledhill misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.

Gledhill decides to stand up, so the ref orders Bradford to his feet.

Bradford tries to keep at a distance but Gledhill has taken the fight into the clinch.

Gledhill has Bradford pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Gledhill pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Bradford tumbling to the mat - Gledhill dives into Bradford's guard.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Well Gledhill has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
