PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Lazaro Holman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and The Beast (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Lazaro Holman!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, The Beast!
The judges for this bout are Saam Ante, Patrick Alders and Radbod Blank.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Beast clinches with his opponent.

Holman jumps guard and drags Beast to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Holman trying to control the position.
Holman looking for a sweep. Not yet Holman, not yet.
Holman has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Beast has passed into side control.
Holman tries to control but end up mounted... ooooh, that's bad.
Beast with a couple of short strikes.
Beast avoids the attempt from Holman to control.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Holman is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Beast postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Holman looks a forlorn figure.
Beast avoids the attempt from Holman to control.

Beast goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Holman turns into him and now he's in Beast's guard.
Beast lands an upkick as Holman stands over him.
Beast wants to sweep but no luck.

Beast escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Holman gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Beast controls Holman momentarily but Holman frees himself.
Holman won't allow Beast to get back to his feet.
Beast pulls Holman in to control the position.

Beast has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Holman can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Beast trying to keep a closed guard but Holman is proving a slippery customer.
Beast utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Holman really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Beast is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Holman stops Beast from standing up.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Beast is looking to sweep but instead, Holman has passed into half guard.
Beast makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Beast.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The Beast dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Beast throws a leg kick that is checked

and Holman counters with a nice double leg into side control. Beast won't be happy with that.
Beast is looking to reverse the position.
Holman knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Beast on the ground.
Beast gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
Beast moves into full guard.
Beast is adopting a defensive guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Beast is trying to control the position but Holman postures up.

Beast pulls Holman in to control the position.
Beast is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Beast throws a body kick that misses.

Beast gets the takedown into side control.
Holman being controlled for a moment.

Beast is trying to get an arm triangle but Holman is defending well.

Holman is letting Beast control him for a moment.
Holman manages to get back to half guard.
Holman avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Beast.
Holman is trying to control but Beast passes into side control!
Holman is not content to let Beast control the position.
Both fighters take a look at the clock.

Beast looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Holman wants to control but Beast postures up.
Holman regains half guard.
Still in half guard, Beast seems content to control.
The Beast has got the better of the ground game so far.
Holman gets back to full guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Beast sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Holman's guard.
Holman has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Beast is working away from the top position though.
Beast is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.

Holman preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The Beast showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!



Beast drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Beast pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Holman is keeping the position for now.
Holman looking to hit a scissor sweep but Beast is one step ahead there.

Beast drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Beast jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Beast's corner is telling him to maintain position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Holman keeping moving, preventing Beast from controlling successfully.
Beast slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

Beast trying to stand up but can't free himself from Holman's guard.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Beast shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Holman pinned against the cage. Holman gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Holman fails with a takedown attempt.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Beast closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Holman did well to prevent Beast getting side control.
Holman is looking to improve his position.
Beast controlling the pace.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Holman is trying to get back to full guard.
Holman trying to control here.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Beast is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Beast has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Beast in particular looking to stall.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Beast throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
It looked like Holman was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Beast.
The Beast is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Beast darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Beast thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Holman's head.
Beast seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
Beast with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
Holman gets full guard.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Beast stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Holman swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Beast postures up.

And that's the end of the fight!
The Beast comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Beast has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
