PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Rudolf Roman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dada Slice (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Roman is coming into this fight with a significant injury, which will no doubt have an effect on his cardio. The fight MMA fans around the world have waited their entire lives for!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Rudolf Roman!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Dada Slice!
The judges for this bout are Konstantin Menshow, Dmitry Maklakov and Viktor Lagutenko.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Roman moves out of range as Slice throws a body kick.
Slice is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Roman is breathing heavily.
Slice misses with a kick to the body.
Slice goes for a double leg but Roman avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Roman continues to drive forward.
Roman appears to be looking for a big counter.

Slice fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Roman, pushing him back against the cage.
Slice drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Roman gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Slice dodges an elbow strike from Roman.
Slice looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Slice is looking to take this one to the mat.
Rudolf Roman has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Dada Slice.
Slice is trying to drag Roman to the mat but Roman just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows.

A frustrated look appears on Slice's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Roman is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Slice is trying to push Roman away but Roman has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.

Slice doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.

Slice has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Roman off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.

Slice moves into the clinch.
Roman could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Slice is trying to break the clinch but Roman has him pressed against the cage.

Slice manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
Slice wants to sweep but no luck.
Slice pulls Roman in close to prevent any damage.

Slice pulls Roman in to control the position.
Slice looking to hit a scissor sweep but Roman is one step ahead there.
Slice is pulling down on Roman's head to control his posture.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Slice goes for a double leg but Roman avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Roman continues to drive forward.
Slice darts in looking for a takedown but Roman gets double underhooks and turns Slice into the cage.
Slice moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Roman tries to clinch but fails miserably
and Slice counters with a series of strikes. Roman will be more careful next time no doubt.

Slice clinches with his opponent.
Slice has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Roman avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Slice takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.
Roman wants to stall.

Slice drags the fight down to the ground.
Roman has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Slice seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Slice escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Roman gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dada Slice dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Horrible takedown attempt by Slice or perhaps it was just good defense by Roman, which made it look bad.

Slice darts in and clinches Roman up against the cage.
Slice jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Roman walks away with a smile on his face. Slice gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Roman closes the distance and clinches up with Slice, looking for a takedown. Roman pushes Slice against the cage but Slice circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Slice tries for a takedown but Roman sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Rudolf Roman has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Dada Slice.

Slice tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Roman swivels and escapes.
Roman attempts a counter takedown but Slice avoids it well and moves away.
No luck for Slice with that takedown attempt.
Roman went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Slice changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Roman fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Slice has closed the distance and engaged Roman in a clinch.

Slice jumps guard and drags Roman to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

Slice is continuing to stall.
Roman might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Roman accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Roman is fighting to break Slice's control of his arms but Slice is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Dada Slice seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Slice shoots in but Roman avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Slice lands with a good body shot.
Slice looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.
A little feinted left hand from Roman on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.

Slice closes the distance and clinches.

Roman throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Slice works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Slice pulls Roman in close to his closed guard and prevents Roman from doing any damage or advancing position.
Slice is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Dada Slice showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Slice dictating the pace here, as the fighters clinch against the cage.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Dada Slice comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Slice winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
