PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Brian Colt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ronnie Scrollman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Scrollman has chosen Face the pain- Stemme as his entrance music. Ronnie Scrollman has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Brian Colt!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Ronnie Scrollman!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Scrollman wants to clinch.
Colt misses with a straight left.
Scrollman misses with the combination.

Colt feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Colt slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Colt advances position into side control!

Scrollman tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Colt wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Colt working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

Colt goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Scrollman rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Colt's guard! Nice work there by Scrollman!
Colt is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Colt seems keen to control Scrollman's posture.

Scrollman wants to get up but he can't break Colt's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Scrollman loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Colt has control of Scrollman's left arm, preventing Scrollman from doing any damage.
Scrollman must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Colt manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Scrollman manages to get himself to full guard.

Colt is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Scrollman knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Colt lunges at Scrollman with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Scrollman's hand.
Brian Colt seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Colt fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Scrollman sprawls well initially but Colt persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Brian Colt overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Colt uses his free foot to push down on Scrollman's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Scrollman.
Colt can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Scrollman is looking to escape.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Colt goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Scrollman turns into him and now he's in Colt's guard.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Colt pulls Scrollman in close to his closed guard and prevents Scrollman from doing any damage or advancing position.
Colt wants to sweep here but Scrollman controlling him for the moment.
Colt manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Scrollman manages to get himself to full guard.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Scrollman has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Colt can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Colt looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

Colt is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Colt is looking for a kimura here.

Colt is working for a kimura but Scrollman is defending it quite comfortably.
Colt is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Scrollman stops Colt from taking his back. Still, being mounted isn't any better.

Colt jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Scrollman manages to avoid the submission attempt.
Scrollman is trying to escape the position but Colt is controlling the position.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Colt thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Colt passes to full mount! That's big trouble for Scrollman!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Brian Colt dominated that second round.
That's time! Colt's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!


Colt misses with a hook.

Colt shoots in for a takedown but Scrollman shows good takedown defense.
Scrollman shoots in and drives through. Colt sprawls well.
Colt throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Scrollman sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Scrollman lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected.
Scrollman bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Scrollman slips a straight right by Colt.
Scrollman looks to land a combination but Colt avoids it well.
Colt was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Scrollman ducks under a wild hook from Colt.
Scrollman is looking for the big counter here.

Colt closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Colt lands in his opponent's guard.
Colt is standing up over Scrollman. Scrollman looks to escape but Colt dives into side control.

Colt works to advance to full mount. Scrollman defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
Colt takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Colt takes his opponent's back. Perhaps a chance to lock up a rear naked choke here.

Colt looking to break Scrollman's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Scrollman remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Colt will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke!

Colt is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Scrollman defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined.
Colt is riding his opponent, not letting Scrollman buck him off.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Colt is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Scrollman knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Scrollman for a finish.
Scrollman really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Colt. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Colt has his opponent's back and is working for the choke.

Scrollman is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Colt gets his way!

Colt is persistently looking for the submission but Scrollman is defending it well.

Colt has the rear naked choke here! This is very bad for Scrollman! Can he survive? No! He's out! Colt gets to his feet and celebrates with his cornermen. He looks absolutely delighted. In the post fight interviews he takes time to thank his parents and everyone who has believed in him from the start. How sweet.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:46 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Brian Colt!
