Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Sterling Nixon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jay Mosby (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). This should be a great matchup!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Sterling Nixon!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jay Mosby!
The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Ian Loll and Dillan Fox.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Nixon gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Nixon prevents Mosby from breaking the clinch.

Mosby jumps into guard, dragging Nixon to the mat.
Nixon cracks Mosby with a solid left hand.
Mosby keeping moving, preventing Nixon from controlling successfully.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Nixon accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Nixon trying to control but Mosby is working from the bottom.
Nixon knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Mosby on the ground.
Nixon keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Mosby's head.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Nixon is in close to Mosby's body, working some short punches and elbows.

Nixon drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Mosby dives on top into guard.


Nixon has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Mosby can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Nixon has his foot on Mosby's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Mosby works his way back into a safe position though.
Mosby wants to control from the top but Nixon keeps moving.
Nixon has momentary wrist control but Mosby slips an elbow through the middle.

Nixon escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Mosby gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Mosby is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Nixon looking for a sweep. Not yet Nixon, not yet.

Nixon looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Mosby avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Nixon striking off his back but it's not causing Mosby any problems.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Nixon is striking from the bottom but Mosby uses the opportunity to pass into half guard.
Mosby thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Mosby prevents Nixon from improving his position.

Mosby is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Nixon is just riding it out for now. Mosby eventually gives up the hold.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Mosby missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Nixon is staying active underneath Mosby, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Nixon is trying to get back to full guard.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Mosby is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Nixon.

Nixon rushes Mosby and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Nixon is trying to drag Mosby to the mat but Mosby just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Nixon gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Mosby regains guard.

Mosby has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Nixon is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Jay Mosby will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Mosby moves to clinch but Nixon breaks away

and Nixon counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Nixon has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Nixon is in close to Mosby's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Jay Mosby has got the better of the ground game so far.
Mosby wants to sweep but no luck.
Mosby is looking to stand up but Nixon isn't so interested in that idea.
Mosby not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Nixon with a nice head shot there.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Nixon stopping the sweep attempt from Mosby.

Nixon drops back, looking for a kneebar! Mosby looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Mosby looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Mosby!

Nixon wings away with a couple of strikes but they don't land.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Mosby working away.
Nixon tries to strike from the bottom but misses.
Nixon is not content to let Mosby control the position.
Nixon is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Nixon looking for a sweep but Mosby has passed into full mount! Oh no!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Mosby working for a guillotine from mount but Nixon is in no mood to give up.
Nixon might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Mosby wants to control the pace but Nixon is squirming around nicely.
Nixon is looking to get to half guard.
Nixon is in a tricky position but he's been working on his transitions down at Canadian Dragon MMA, so we'll see if he gets out of it.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Mosby tries to control but Nixon wriggling away.
Nixon flailing away with punches but nothing is landing.
Nixon looking to escape from mount but he's given up his back!
Nixon tries to escape the position.
Mosby missing with strikes.
Mosby keeps control of the position easily here as Nixon tries to buck him off.
Mosby somehow managing to miss with a strike from the back.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Mosby tries to get the hooks in deep but Nixon pushed the leg off.
I really don't envy Nixon right now.
Mosby trying to control momentarily.
Mosby has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Mosby sinks in the hooks and is looking for the choke. He's got it! Nixon taps out!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:50 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Jay Mosby!
Jay Mosby gave a mention to Gym Buddy Holdings in his post fight interview. That will please them (and hopefully generate some sales).
