Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between George Mendez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rigan Machado (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Machado with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Mendez to score with a decent uppercut.
Machado fails with a takedown attempt.

Machado scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Mendez is trying to get back to his feet.
The referee asks Machado politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Machado prefers to stall for the moment though.
Mendez is trying to buck Machado off.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Mendez trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful.
Machado wants to lay and pray for a moment but Mendez keeps working.

Machado is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Mendez has escaped the position, nice work there.
Mendez is trying to escape and get back to his feet.

Machado looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Machado prevents Mendez from escaping the position.

Machado wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Mendez, who protects the arm well.

Machado thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Mendez wants to get back to his feet but Machado drags him back down.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Machado has hold of Mendez's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Mendez tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Machado cranks the arm and Mendez screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Mendez, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
